Hello there, and welcome to my VisualCV!  Thank you for taking the time to review the page and I hope you enjoy!

I am in the two months of schooling at Longwood University.  In December, I will have successfully earned my Bachelors Degree.  Naturally, my job search has already begun and I hope that this will be of some assistance in that search.  I invite you to review my experience in education and work as well as my portfolio which includes my Senior Research Thesis project, my resume, and several other substantial projects and materials that I have completed within my time at Longwood.

Work experience

Apr 2010Present

Host and Server

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

I started as a host which involves seating the guests and being in charge of maintaining the environment for the guests, both internal and external.

A year after I started, I cross-trained into the serving position.  My knowledge from hosting made the transition an easy one to deal with.  I thoroughly enjoy serving and have made it my primary position with Cracker Barrel.

The interpersonal communication and sales skills I learn while on the job has been insightful and beneficial to my chosen area of collegial study.

Office Assistant

Southside Virginia Community College

I worked in the office of the Community College's professor of accounting and economics.  The position involved high paced grading, photocopying, organizing/filing, and communication with the supervisor.

Patricia Diane Nipper

Ms. Nipper served both as a professor and a work supervisor for me during my time at SVCC.  I worked in her office as her work study/office assistant for three semesters.  She is an excellent source for information regarding my office skills.

Dr. Naomi Johnson

Dr. Johnson serves as my professor for five of the courses that I completed for my major.  These courses were all upper level and consisted of complex coursework and concepts and therefore she is extremely aware of my skills and abilities in the area of communication studies.

Bachelor of Arts

Longwood University

I am currently pursuing my bachelor's degree. I expect to graduate in December of 2012.  I hope to earn a position in advertising, event planning, human resources, or public relations.

The education I have received from Longwood's Communication Studies program is nothing short of amazing.  The professors have been so helpful throughout all of the courses and they are all geniuses in their own individual disciplines within Comm. studies. In the spring of 2012, I completed my final capstone senior thesis on the topic of gender identity and how it is created through symbolic interactions between fathers and sons. The final project consisted of a literature review, theoretical components, and a research study, results and conclusions with hopes for the future study of the topic.

Upon my graduation in December, I hope to use the skills I have learned at Longwood to earn a position in the field of Public Relations, Organizational Communication, Consulting, Human Resources, or Marketing.

Associates of Arts and Sciences

Southside Virginia Community College

I began work on my associates degree at SVCC in the fall after I graduated from high school.  My time there was priceless and the education I received has been invaluable.
