Environmental Services Supervisor 1999 - 2002 Environmental Services Administrative Specialist III 1998 - 1999

I Supervised a L250 Union Workforce through two JCAHO accreditations at a 120 licensed bed medical center.

Hired, trained and evaluated new employees. I was Responsible for regular performance and quality metrics in both hospital and clinical areas. I wrote new department policies to keep pace with the changing environment. I held lead responsibility for waste minimization at both the Fresno and Oakhurst facilities. Participated in department annual budgeting process and was responsible for managing budgeted resources.

Additionally I provided Administrative Support for EVS, one of the largest departments in the facility. This included regulatory documentation tracking, scheduling meetings, communicating with clients and ensuring that deadlines were met. Typing and proofreading documents. Photocopying, assembling and distributing prepared materials. Achievements include:

  • Trained, motivated and supervised over 90 FTE in all areas of responsibility.
  • Improved performance standards, teamwork and overall facility cleanliness.
  • Performed regular inspections, monitored and improved customer satisfaction, and infection control compliance.

Provide strategic and tactical leadership in the areas of Environmental Services, Linen, Facility Grounds, Safety and Security along with the Hospital Safety Officer responsibilities. This 410 bed medical center with acute care, skilled nursing and assisted living beds is approximately 423,000 square feet with five offsite locations. Providing leadership for a team of 81FTE has improved moral and job satisfaction. Through process improvement have raised HCAHPS scores fifteen percent and reduced hospital acquired infection rates more than 30 percent.

  • Increased cleanliness scores fifty four percent with process improvement and training.
  • Increased courtesy scores over two hundred percent with training and scripting.
  • Created and leads a Green Team for environmental stewardship and waste reduction.
  • Instituted a multi disciplinary group to update the hospital safety manual.

I develop, direct and operate all aspects of environmental and linen services at a progressive, highly successful 163 licensed bed district hospital and skilled nursing facility. Utilizing a team of 49 FTE I provide a clean and safe environment for patients, guests and staff. I have greatly improved moral, cleanliness and efficiency while managing all essential tasks. Adept at developing and maintaining processes that reduce redundancy; improve efficiency and achieving organizational objectives.

  • Achieved overall budget savings of nearly two percent or $49,000 my first year.
  • Improved facility cleanliness over forty percent, developed new routines and processes.
  • Improved moral and staff satisfaction over seventy percent my first year compared to the previous staff survey.
  • Achieved praise for facility cleanliness during the 2007 JCAHO accreditation survey.

  • Administered policies, training, disciplinary actions, and performed evaluations in a consistent manner.

I created a roofing contracting company from the ground up. This included handling all aspects of administration including bookkeeping, payroll, federal and state regulations and reporting. Responsible for hiring employees, training, purchasing, job costing and scheduling. Planned, coordinated, implemented and managed numerous re-roofing and roof repair jobs. I achieved a profit in the third month and each subsequent month thereafter and maintained a 100% safety record among 6 employees over two years.

Created and Managed the Central Valley operation for Diamond Exteriors Inc., a Sears' licensee for installed roofing, fencing and doors from Bakersfield to Chico California. I evaluated and hired contractors to provide installation services and continually performed ongoing hiring and training for a large outside sales force. Assigned and tracked leads, scheduled appointments and follow up calls tracking closing ratios, markup and profit margins for my district. I regularly reported sales records to the region and corporate offices achieving first year sales of two million, second year sales almost four million.
