A member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, John Cheeley possesses 20 years of experience practicing law. Since 1998, he’s provided legal representation to clients through the Law Office of John Cheeley, P.C. Based in Norcross, Georgia, John Cheeley served on the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee and held the position of Special Assistant Attorney General. He worked at two law firms in Duluth and Buford prior to establishing his current practice 14 years ago. A graduate of the University of Georgia in Athens, Mr. Cheeley received his Bachelor of Arts in Finance in 1989. During his four years at the institution, he was a member of the Student Judiciary of the Defender-Advocate Society and a community service volunteer. He also gained international experience through a summer program in Austria in 1988. A Phi Gamma Delta member, Mr. Cheeley continues to belong to the fraternity.He went on to attend the Georgia State University College of Law. In 1990, Mr. Cheeley joined the Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity and was one of the Federalist Society’s founding members. He received an award for the best legal brief that same year. He earned his Juris Doctorate two years later and began practicing law soon after.In addition to working with clients in his law office, John Cheeley served on multiple committees during the 1990s. He was a junior committee member for the Shepherd Clinic Catastrophic Care Hospital and the Leukemia Society of America. Mr. Cheeley is a former volunteer at the Atlanta History Center, which strives to connect individuals to the city’s culture and historical background. He previously volunteered with the Woodruff Arts Center, an Atlanta-based facility dedicated to the visual and performing arts.
