Facilitated the company’s spin-off and technology build-out of this publicly-traded REIT operating 35 internally-managed assets throughout the US. Implemented and executed a primary charter for strategic planning and project deployment with the expressed objective of preparing the new company for mergers and acquisitions. Early member of the new company’s management team, charged with oversight of all technology functions, management and modernization of voice/data systems, solutions design, client/server migrations, application development, process automation, and enterprise system implementations. Supervised 15 total staff, including team leads/ supervisors, DBAs, software engineers, contractors, and IT professionals. Major accomplishments include:

  • Implementation and data migration to the organization's new residential management platform (MRI version 4 and Microsoft Dynamics SL).
  • Establishment, implementation, and management of the company's technology infrastructure on a hybrid commercial / open-source model integrating Microsoft, Red Hat Linux, and Oracle database technology platforms.
  • Specification and implementation of a standards-based technology framework for the REIT's managed assets; Internalization of >30 disparate third-party services at a savings in excess of $1.2MM annually.
  • Development of a fully automated electronic payables solution, providing a 70% productivity increase in the accounting group as well as a $220K / year reduction in staffing expense.

Designed, deployed, and operated 252 long-range broadcast microwave facilities serving in excess of 26,000 business and residential subscribers utilizing leading-edge wireless and open-source technologies. Recruited, trained, and managed a team of 35 supporting technology and network operations for this innovative, first-to-market, high-tech enterprise. Highlights include:

  • Assumed CTO role as a founding member of the company, with broad responsibilities for oversight of the transition of a technology R&D project to a fully operational, successful high-tech enterprise. Responsible for execution of first-year technology budget >$20MM.
  • Established business technology infrastructure and engineering groups. Spearheaded recruiting, training, and deployment of all core operations and regional field engineering teams in concert with the aggressive business model targets build-out and production operations.
