I am an experienced CEO and serial entrepreneur with over 20 years of executive management experience at both public and privately held technology companies. I have started and run two software companies, I have also been the CEO of a small public company and the VP/GM and VP/CTO for several large public technology companies.
I have been a Venture Partner with a venture capital firm, have been an advisor and consultant to numerous storage and networking companies, and have been on the board of directors of several technology companies.
I am an engineer by training with patents in the area of grid computing and analytics on big data. I have been working on computing, networking, storage systems, and software for storing, processing and analyzing big data for most of my career.
I have been an adjunct faculty member at several universities where I have taught business, entrepreneurship and technology commercialization to undergraduates, MBA students, and PhD students in engineering and the sciences.

Led the strategy, re-branding, product marketing and distribution strategy for early stage stealth-mode company developing a new technology for data and storage management in virtual environments.
Co-founded and ran a business intelligence software company focused on providing business intelligence analytics on unstructured data, including text, video, audio and images. Sold SaaS and web-based software solutions in financial services, brand management and communications, media and advertising, and compliance markets.
Strategy consulting for technology companies and emerging growth technology companies. Services include corporate strategy, market strategy, channel strategy, business development, M&A, interim executive, advisory board services, Voice of the Customer projects, new product definition, new product introduction, market identification, and turn-around execution.
Clients included: Seagate Technology, LSI Logic, Copan Systems, NeoPath Networks, StoredIQ, Maximum Throughput, RockSoft, Bluestream Ventures, Signal Lake Partners, Silverstorm Technologies, CorEdge Networks, NetEffect, and Panasas
Sourced and performed due diligence on storage and software investments. Worked with portfolio companies in an advisory capacity as needed. Drove overall strategy for storage related investments.
Implemented turn-around for small public company with no product or revenue for 5 years. Developed patented distributed filesystem technology in the form of a clustered NAS product. Results: Raised $51 Million in capital through equity offerings. Delivered new product in 15 months. Generated first revenue and new customers in over 5 years. (Company was later acquired by Adaptec).
Established strategic direction for a division containing three business units, including the client/server disk business group ($100 Million), the client/server tape business group ($425 Million) and the Storage Networking business group ($150 Million). Results: Drove over 50% profitable revenue growth through a combination of direct, indirect and OEM distribution channels. Established key OEM partnerships with Dell and SUN. Developed a $50 Million SAN business in 15 months. Met or exceeded all business objectives.
Held a number of management positions, including VP of Business Development, VP of Marketing, CTO, and General Manager for this computer server company. Results: Led the transition of the company out of the server business and into the storage business through the acquisition of a storage management software company.
Founded the developer of clustering software for simulations based on patented technology. Customers included all of the top Wall Street brokerage houses, the major CAD software manufacturers and over 100 other customers. Sold the company to Platinum Technologies.
Member of kernel operating system group developing a multiprocessor version of UNIX. Representative to Unix International and Open Software Foundation. Chairperson of the OSF Filesystems SIG.
Helped to win $45 Million Army/DARPA project. Managed research and development. Research areas included networking, distributed systems, electromagnetics and optics.
