About Joann Baney

An executive educator with several decades of experience, Joann Baney has been an associate professor with the Executive MPA program at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs since 2006. In addition to her roles in executive education, Joann Baney is cofounder and vice president of communications consulting firm Professional Development Company, Inc., which provides customized communications training programs for such well-known companies as State Farm Insurance, Del Monte Foods, and UPC Wind Management.

Previously, Professor Baney was associate director of the Professional Development Center at Columbia Business School, in which role she oversaw 16 instructors in the Management Communications program, which included more than 500 MBA students.

Joann Baney holds a bachelor of arts in English from the University of Chicago and an MBA from Columbia University. When she is not working, she enjoys cooking and attending musical theater performances. An accomplished singer and actress herself, she has performed in various off-Broadway productions.
