Dear Sir/Madam:

I have recently graduated from the Schulich School of Education at Nipissing University and I am seeking full-time employment in the junior/intermediate/senior divisions. I am available to begin work full-time June 2011.  I intend to upgrade my teaching qualifications to teach in the senior division by taking an additional basic qualification course in the Spring of 2011 as well as additional qualifications in Special Education Part I and ESL Part I. Being a student from Nipissing University's iTeach Laptop Learning Program means I am very comfortable with technology and incorporating it into the classroom.

My pre-service teaching experience includes working in grade 9 Core French classes and a Grade 5 general education class in the Waterloo Region District School Board. While on practicum I planned, implemented, and assessed differentiated lessons while effectively incorporating technology. I gained valuable experience while on these practicums where I was able to adapt my teaching style to the needs of the students. For example, I quickly discovered that the Applied class required more visual aids and English translations to understand instructions. In addition, I had the pleasure of teaching English as a second language in Chambéry, France, where the focus of all lessons was learning through play and practice. I will continue my education with a focus on earning specialist qualifications in ESL as well as French.

I strongly believe that in a classroom all students have the right to be safe, respected, and to be able to learn regardless of their gender, race, socioeconomic background, sexual orientation, or intelligence and it is my responsibility to help them to recognize their potential and to support them through instruction and guidance that encourages creative and critical thinking. In order to motivate students learning a second language I will make my lessons relevant and engaging. I will model my passion for French by sharing experiences of my study and travel in France and of my continuous learning and improvement of the language. I can be counted upon to make a valuable contribution to any school board and I can be reached at [email protected].
