Jena Jones recently moved to the Washington, D.C. area in June of 2014 when her new husband started a new job. She is a native of Gaffney, South Carolina, and is a graduate of the Spartanburg Day School and Limestone College where she studied theatre with a concentration on acting and choreography.
Before she moved, she was one of the two lead dance instructors at Backstage Dance Connection in Boiling Springs, South Carolina. Along with teaching classes, she also mentored and supervised student teachers. She has experience in many different styles and has taught many classes including beginner ballet/tap classes, award winning competition teams, and AllStarz cheerleading teams. In 2014, teams that she instructed participated and all placed highly in many regional and national competitions including "Showbiz," "Fire and Ice," and "Encore DCS."
Jena has danced for over 19 years and continues her dance training today. She has trained locally in various styles of dance. While tap and contemporary are Jena's favorite styles, she has been trained in tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, modern and lyrical. Jena has performed and competed all over upstate South Carolina. In 2006 she performed in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and in 2010 she performed a tap number with the Spartanburg Philharmonic Orchestra. She has performed in International Ballet Academy(IBA)'s "The Nutcracker" several times playing roles such as Young Clara, a flower, and a snowflake. She also performed in the ballet "Giselle" with IBA and with a ballet company in Philadelphia.
