Professional Development

  • I have a BYOD classroom and through personal development and professional learning groups I have learnt to incorporate e-Learning tools into my classroom including Schoology, Google Classroom, Blogger, Google Apps for education, Hapara Teacher Dashboard and personalised learning through various apps including Front Row Ed, Read Theory, EDpuzzle and  Thinglink
  • Utilising a class set of Chromebooks and students own devices (including iPads, Samsungs, laptops, iPods, androids). Integrating them with my classroom programme and Numeracy/Literacy tumbles
  • Being part and contributing towards the e-Learning and Mathematics PLG (professional learning groups) teams

Teaching philosophy

I believe teaching should be;

  • Visual, authentic, kinaesthetic
  • Collaborative
  • Child-centered

I strongly believe in providing children with rich and meaningful learning opportunities that will enable them to develop and utilise a range of skills and tools that will make them lifelong learners. Students should be at the centre of the purpose for teaching and it is my desire as an educator, to help students meet their fullest potential by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking through e-Learning tools, and invites the sharing of ideas.

I also believe in positive behaviour for learning, and developing open trustworthy relationships with students, parents and caregivers as I feel it provides families with a sense of connectedness. Learning is most effective when students' see that learning is enjoyable and interesting.  It is very important for students to have a choice in what they learn to help build motivations and sustain engagement.

I am particularly passionate about learning and teaching in the areas of Maths, English, Physical Education and e-Learning. In order to be an effective teacher one has to be a keen learner and be able to reflect on and share personal practices and experiences with others in order to improve their teaching practice.
