Surveyor

Tru Line Surveys Ltd.

Observe  Tru-Line Ltd. survey techniques and apply them.  All work was for Canadian Pacific Railway.

Survey of asbuilt track, road crossings, bridges, tunnels, rock out crops and other C.P.R. projects.

Lay out of C.P.R. property and right of way.

Lay out of track, switches, frogs, jordan rail and signals.

Lay out of cuts and fills from stripping to final grade.

Quantity surveys, take offs and survey control marker tie ins. Some times carried over 3 km.

Topographic surveys for engineering design of track and track alignment .

Leica Total Stations were used , builders and digital levels were also used.

W.T.S. Engineering & Associates

Observe  W.T.S. Eng. techniques and apply them. Most work was for the City of Calgary, Calgary Stampede Corp., Calgary International Airport, Springbank Airport, L.R.T. and Telus.

Asbuilt, lay out , topographic and quantity surveys for Calgary International Airport and Springbank Airport. extremely high precision surveys required in accordance with Ministry of Transportation specs.

Asbuilt survey of racetrack at Calgary Stampede Grounds ( before every race ). Asbuilt survey of Stampede properties, including all buidings, fencing, roads etc. and any other properties that they have ( ranches).

Asbuilt survey of Calgary Light Rail Transit, topographic surveys for engineering design of track, stations and public access and parking. Lay out of the above as well.

Asbuilt and lay out of roads, curbs, gutters,side walks, light stands, man holes, sewer, gas, water, electricity, storm etc.

Asbuilt and lay out surveys of public parks, tot lots and irrigation systems and anything else related to them.

Stake out for Telus fiber optic lines.

I.P. locating roughly 2500-3000 pins located.

Geodometer total stations and Ashteck G.P.S. rover and base stations were used as well as builders and digital levels.

Paladin Positioning

Observe Paladin Positioning survey techniques and apply them. All work was for Oil & Gas exploration.

Lay out of drillers shot points and recording crews reciever points.

Asbuilt survey of line hazards, pipe lines ( high and low pressure), well heads, pumping stations, buildings and anything else that could be affected by 1kg or more of explosives.

G.I.S. mapping of line hazzards, line access and private property boundries.

108 days in remote camp, 12 hour days 7 days a week.

Work in extreme weather conditions ex. -30 to -50 C with 30 to 70 kmh winds.

Trouble shoot  Ashteck  G.P.S. rovers and base stations due to weather related issues.

Observe N.H.L. Ltd.  survey techniques and apply them. All work was for Oil & Gas exploration.

Lay out of drillers shot points and recording crews receiver points.

Asbuilt survey of line hazards, pipe lines ( high and low pressure), well heads, pumping stations, buildings and anything else that could be affected by 1kg or more of explosives.

97 days in remote camp, 12 hour days 7 days a week.

Work in extreme weather conditions for long periods. ( keep moving if you want to stay warm).

Trimble base stations and rovers were used.

Surveyor/ Engineering Assistant

D.R.Estey Engineering

Observe D.R.Estey Engineering survey techniques and apply them. All surveys were related to Forestry and Minning.

Handled all technical and organizational aspects of the company's field work.

Preparation of documents required ensuring schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved.

Tightly controlled costs by adjusting staff, matching strengths to duties performed.

Focused on quality improvements as a key driver of customer satisfaction.

Train new employee's on D.R.Estey Eng. survey techniques, site plan surveys, hydrology surveys and traversing.

Road lay out using topographical map,aerial photos compass and clineometer or abbny level.

Road deactivation, slope stabilization and watershed restoration were other duties I performed.

In charge of up to 4 survey crews at a time, each crew 3 men strong.

Honors and Accolades

Award of Outstanding Achivement and an engraved knife from Amco Oil. This was for a road that I had layed out and surveyed in a caribou habitat zone. I had shortened the 20 km road to just under 18 km and saved the company estimated at the time around 5.7 million dollars in construction costs and another 200k from potental fines from an area that was starting to slide.
