Managed all international import and export regulatory compliance including U.S. Customs, ITAR, C-TPAT, BIS, and NAFTA.

Selected Accomplishments

  • Tyco was paying over $1M in annual duties for shipments made to Canada. Analyzed and classified over 5000 SKUs. Submitted required NAFTA certificates and created procedures to avoid further duty payments. Recovered over $662K from prior year.
  • Created procedures to ensure imported product is properly documented to comply with U.S. Customs and C-TPAT requirements.
  • Named "Empowered Official" responsible for ITAR compliance and export license and commodity jurisdiction applications to Department of State and the Department of Defense.
  • Liaison to the Department of Commerce (BIS) on matters pertaining to Export Administration Regulations.

Directed the worldwide traffic and distribution of product and the supervision of the shipping, receiving, warehouse, and customer service departments.

Selected Accomplishments

  • Kay Home Products import shipments were managed by a 3PL. Revised the entire import program including order processing, banking, freight rate structures, and delivery schedules resulting in a 23% freight cost reduction ($215K), shortened shipment transit time, and reduced inventory levels.
  • Evaluated domestic carriers and negotiated lower LTL rates resulting in a reduced carrier base, elimination of accessorial charges, and implementation of a FAK rate structure which lowered freight rates by 38% ($95K).
  • Developed a Logistics Routing Guide for both inbound and outbound shipments and a Carrier Performance Report Card to ensure on-time delivery of product at the most economical freight cost.
  • Restructured shipping and receiving departments and reorganized 450K sq. ft. warehouse resulting in increased manpower productivity and more efficient warehouse utilization.
  • Provided leadership and guidance in the development of high quality and efficient service to customers.
