2004 - 2007

System Administrator


Provided technical support to 150+ users in a Windows 2000/2003 environment consisting of 17 servers and 175 workstations.

Supported IIS servers for station intranet page including a home-grown help desk ticketing system using My SQL server.

Performed cabling (cat 5 and fiber) installation of new workstations and configured Cisco devices on the LAN.

Upgraded sales force from desktop PC’s to IBM laptops enabling the sales team to work remotely, inlcuding training of use of RSA VPN tokens.

Supported MOS/ENPS/Graphics systems using MOS-based protocol standards developed specifically for all stations using MY SQL and Microsoft SQL server.

Interface with corporate Service Center support teams for escalation of help desk issues beyond local scope.

Implemented a new weather radar computer system based on White Box Linux, working with vendors in Wichita, KS.

Specific support of AVID, ENPS and other television servers/applications.

Lead project of VOIP study using Cisco-based products.

2003 - 2004

Corporate LAN Administrator

Journal Broadcast Group

Promoted from the Knoxville operations to oversee IT needs for the Journal Broadcast Group’s Northwest region. 

Regional Network Administrator for 2 TV stations, 6 radio stations and 3 office locations in Idaho.

Managed IT budgets as set forth by the respective operation.

Provided WAN/LAN support, application and server support of Novell 5 GroupWise Post Office, NT/2000 Servers/Active directory and Windows 2000/XP workstations.

Supported AVID, Pathfire, Vyxx and AP’s ENPS and non-linear editing workstations for television, operating on Windows NT, 2000 and Windows XP.

Projects included updating systems to Windows 2000/XP using Dell hardware.

Installation of cabling and T-1 circuits, application upgrades using change management processes, installation of firewalls/router devices, and corporate CoBIT security initiatives for SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) compliance and roll out of Wide Orbit TV traffic and accounting, sales input and billing system.

2001 - 2003

Network Administrator/Assistant Engineer

Journal Broadcast Group

Oversaw the IT needs of 4 radio stations, worked with transmitters and remote broadcast equipment, and assisted in relocation of facility into new site.

Facilitated move of the phone system to new location and implementing new VOIP phone system from Spherical, 50 units deployed. 

Upgraded PC’s from Windows 9x to 2000 using Dell hardware.

Configured Windows 2000 servers (Dell servers) and active directory converting from Novell 5 to Windows 2000 domain infrastructure with Microsoft Exchange.

Supported Novell 5 file server and GroupWise Post Office.

Configured and supported radio station automation systems.

Performed weekly inspections of radio station transmitter sites.

Engineered remote broadcasts during University of TN football season.

2000 - 2001

Team Lead-Application Administration


Provided input for employee reviews and technical direction for the team and worked directly with the Sprint PCS Logistics business unit.

Supported Windows/Unix based applications Sprint PCS used throughout the enterprise for product distribution.Participated in project to update systems in Louisville, KY in August of 2001 at the main PCS warehouse.

Served as a technical point of contact for all logistical programs, scripts/business applications, and issues when other teams throughout Sprint.

Configured several Windows IBM-branded IIS servers with web-specific applications per specifications.Supported web servers across four different environments: Product Test, Staging, Production and Training

Provided support to 16 production web servers hosted in Research Triangle Park, NC and weekly summary reports of ticketed issues that were seen by executive leadership within Sprint PCS.

Team lead with the Application Administration Logistics Business unit and worked on the Sprint web team.
