DSD specialist / sales

Schwan's / Tony's Frozen Pizza

This also was a DSD specialist position responsible for product arriving at the supermarket level.  This was not Schwan's food that is delivered to private residences.  I sold, delivered, and packed out product that was associated with Tony's Frozen pizza, Freschetta pizza, and Red Baron.  The majority of my time was selling displays, rotation, packing out from back room, and pulling out of code pizzas.  This was a salary plus commission based position responsible for about 20 supermarkets in the NY/NJ area.

Sales Representative

M&H Food Brokers

Again, responsible for an assigned territory of about 40-50 supermarkets in the NJ/NY region.  In all, I was responsible for about 500 products in a supermarkets setting.  Duties included:  rotation, store-level problems, distribution problems, out-of-dates, resets, shelf placement and cleaning, new product placement, pull discontinued, etc.

DSD Sales Representative

Haddon House Foods

This is one of the argest DSD distributor of gourmet products to supermarkets.  In all, there are about 10,000 different products that are authorized at the store level.  As a DSD sales representative, I had to ensure high quality product rotation, inventory problems, shipping problems, display set up, resets, new product cut in, cleaning product, and meeting with store manager to ensure proper DSD account setup for new products or coming sale products.

May 1990 - Sep 1992

Sales Assistant to President

McGill Associates

This was a small food broker consisting of only 4 people including the secretary.  As an Assistant to the President, I was responsible for all activity at store level for about 500 supermarkets in the Northeast.  The product line was smaller with most of the products falling into the category of private label non-foods.  Such as:  paper towels, tissue, diapers, wipes, and some bath/shower items.  With this job it was extremely important to ensure product was on the shelf.  Within a supermarket, manager sometimes control how they want the shelves to appear and "pull" the useless items.  However, once I demonstrated to the managers that the products would sell if placed properly they saw better results.  I received an award for exemplary service and idea generation and given a special dinner to celebrate the increase in sales of about 300% in one summer.

May 1988 - Sep 1990

Food Enterprises

Responsible for an assigned territory of about forty supermarkets in the New Jersey/New York area.  Checking product placement, tag verification, product rotation, out of stocks, new product placement, display push/location, out of codes/date, or any other problems communicated by the store manager.  The products included items such as:  Kraft, General Mills, Progresso, Johnson&Johnson, etc in all departments of a supermarket.
