CIO/CTO/Vice President

Virgin Mobile USA

Initial member of the information technology team designing and developing the first Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) systems for Virgin Mobile USA.The platform provided a complete “Software as a Service” (SaaS) experience for the entire customer base of Virgin Mobile. The SaaS platform allowed the customer, via their PC computer and/or wireless phone browser, full account management and shopping access to any new product offerings.A significant aspect of these systems center around the pre-paid nature of the telecommunication products brought to market that require real-time pre-authorization of services prior to delivery. Some of these services include replenishment options, purchase and delivery of digital assets (ringtones, games, screensavers) and phone activation options.Key to the delivery of these services was the creation of a middleware environment exposing web services to service the real-time events. This Services Oriented Architecture (SOA) was achieved with BEA and Jboss application servers deployed on both Sun/Solaris and Intel/Linux environments.
