Executive Biography

Joanne Friedman's remarkable 25-year career of providing strong direction, expert advice, and strategic guidance in F500 manufacturing and tier-one consulting organizations is highlighted by a personal dedication to maximizing organizational effectiveness and empowering others with the knowledge to succeed. One of those rare people that deeply bridge the gap between technology and business, Joanne is a unique blend of industry visionary, practical strategist and detailed-oriented technician.  With a history of accomplishments in the Pharmaceutical and Electronics manufacturing industries, Joanne is a respected industry analyst and proven C-level change agent with expertise in strategy, operations management, marketing, and enterprise technology. She is a high energy individual that brings the enthusiasm, creativity and a personal commitment to excellence that inspires teams, affects positive organizational change and garners impressive results.

The recipient of numerous awards, including the Glaxo-SKF President's RMC Award , the International Electronics Manufacturing Industry awards for Outstanding Business Leadership and Technology Innovation,  Joanne has been honored with impressive accolades, such as "Technology Innovator of the Year" by the American Business Awards in 2005 and the IT industry's "most influential analyst", by i-Supply in 2006.

Joanne currently serves as Chief Executive Officer, and Principal Analyst at ConneKted Minds, where she has led the research and advisory consultancy to be recognized by Outsell as one of the most innovative in the industry.  Co-founding the firm in 2003, Joanne's leadership and business savvy have been instrumental in transitioning the once stealthy private institute into a highly respected, international firm, with a presence in eight countries and a roster of prestigious enterprise, technology and capital market clients.  Joanne's insight and thought provoking views on emerging technologies, the role of IT in the enterprise and Green Tech are sought by leading trade and business publications such as Strategy & Business, The Economist and Wall Street Journal. She has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, and Cable's Tech-TV and is a frequent conference Keynote.    

Prior to joining ConneKted Minds, Joanne was Senior Vice President, Electronic Business Strategies at MetaGroup (Gartner). Joining the firm in 2000, Joanne quickly earned the respect of peers and clients as she deftly translated her extensive industry and corporate experience, into the pragmatic guidance sought by the largest enterprise and technology providers.  Ranked by e-Week as the #1 E-business Analyst (2001) Joanne was instrumental in helping to make the service the firm's most profitable for 10 consecutive quarters. Showing her entrepreneurial flare, she subsequently created a Manufacturing Management practice, securing $1M in committed subscriptions prior to launch.  Discrete, politically savvy and renowned for the accuracy of her predictions on technology trends, Joanne had successfully transitioned from corporate strategist to industry strategist. 

To boards, senior management teams or rapid-growth companies requiring the expertise and business acumen needed to mitigate risk, lower cost and manage the forces that drive organizational performance Joanne brings the strategic focus and mature business judgment gained during two decades of diverse international experience.  Joanne has served in a variety of senior level positions at F500 firms such as Celestica, IBM, Glaxo-SKF, Bristol-Meyers Squibb, Amdahl, Fujitsu Consulting, DMR and Arthur Anderson (Clarkson Gordon). Her career has taken her on international assignments in the UK, Japan, Mexico, South America and the US. Before transitioning into her second career as an industry analyst, Joanne was Strategic Advisor to the CIO with Celestica where she had diverse responsibilities in M&A, Global Supply Chain and Enterprise Technology.

Joanne is an alumnus of Concordia and McGill Universities, and received her EMBA from Queens/Shulich.  She holds a DMIS from the Robert Kennedy School, University of Wales.  Her commitment and dedication to community involvement is evidenced by the time and energy she contributes. An advocate for child safety, she founded not-for-profit, FCubed, turning her highly successful catering company into an entrepreneurs program for inner city youth.   Joanne currently lives in Toronto with her teenage son.
