Highland Day School
Highland Day School is a licensed day care program that seeks to continue the mission of the Highland Children’s Ministry by providing a safe, loving place where families in our community can bring their children to be cared for and blessed.
I have worked throughout the nursery and toddler classes, and am currently substituting during the summer program. I started as the full-time birth through 6 months nursery caregiver; upon returning from maternity leave, I was with the 12-18 month toddlers.
Birth through 6 month nursery:
Provide loving, gentle care for newborns up to six months of age. Encourage physical and cognitive development with appropriate toys, books, "tummy time," and sensory stimulation. Administer regular meals (bottles of breastmilk or formula and introduce baby food per parental request) and medicine as required. Supervise nap time. Stroller rides in the building and outdoors as weather permits.
12-18 month toddler class:
Provide supervision and age-appropriate instruction and activity centers for newly walking children. Instruction includes story time, flash cards (shapes, colors, numbers, letters, animals), water and/or bean sensory play, and singing. Activity centers include shape sorting and building blocks, musical instruments, pretend play with dress-up and kitchen, soft climbing structure, and puzzles. Administer morning and afternoon snacks as well as lunches provided by the parents, with special attention given to allergies. Administer medicine as required. Stroller rides inside to view and interact with school pets. Outdoor play time as weather permits.
