Middle School Teacher

Daniel Academy

Daniel Academy is a homeschool cooperative in which the children attend classes two days a week and complete the remaining course activities at home. This unique educational environment required me to synthesize a curriculum chosen by the consensus of the Daniel Academy Board of Directors; a wide breadth of parental teaching experience (some brand new, some veteran educators); and a collegiate-style schedule into a manageable academic year for sixth and seventh grade.  Some examples included:

  • wrote weekly lesson plans that parents could understand and teach on their own
  • collected extracurricular material for both remedial and accelerated students
  • built and maintained a website with the class calendar, assignments, and supplemental resources for parents and students
  • conducted parent / teacher conferences on a regular basis
  • organized and carry out class field trips
