"Leave no stone unturned" -Euripides

My name is Jesse Benz. Welcome to my ePortfolio, here you will find my goals, skills, and accomplishments. Please feel free to browse and get to know me a little bit.

Mission, Vision, and Values

I strive to make a positive impact on someones life everyday. No matter how small or large that impact may be. This is what drives me and provides me with fulfillment.

I dream of a world where people reach out first with hands not cell phones. A world where people help those in need instead of video taping it. I hope to see a place where random acts of kindness replace being an idle bystander.

I value integrity, family, and professionalism. Living by these values is an integral part of my life as I continually grow as a person.

I would like to have a successful career in the hospitality industry.

I want to be a leader in my community.

I want to continue to drive the standard forward in the hospitality industry.

I would like to complete my Cicerone certification by the end of 2020.

I want to continue on the path of life long learning.

I would like to continue my daily development as a Leader.

Volunteer Experience

2011-2015 Caroline Ag Society- Christmas dinner waiter and wine service.

2009-2016 Caroline Community- Continuous volunteer work with helping community members and building community projects.

Jun 2017 Edmonton ZooFest- A fundraiser for the Zebra child protection centre.

In many of my past work experiences my environment was always changing. No part of may day was static, everyday was different. I have learned to adapt quickly and on the fly to any situation which may arise.

Problem solving

I have shown that I can solve problems in creative and new ways. Often when a solution can not be found people will turn to me to find it.

As a former member of the Canadian Armed Forces, I have experience leading a large group. During this time I had to manage schedules, morale, conflicts, and coaching. Motivating and supporting my coworkers was very important to me.

I work as an assistant manager who looks after bar inventory every week. I handle cash, sensitive information, and product on a daily basis. I have extensive experience working alone without supervision. Having integrity plays a key role in managing these responsibilities.

Interpersonal communication

Working as a disability support worker I taught communication and relationship skills on a daily basis. I become adept at reading body language and physical ques. This allows me to anticipate a lot during a social interaction.

  • Responsible- I can handle responsibilities and making judgment calls.
  • Integrity- I can be counted on to be honest and upfront.
  • Adaptable- I can work in ever changing environments. I handle stressful and surprise situations very well.
  • Dependable-You can count on me to complete my assigned tasks and hit my deadlines.
  • Personable- I am very approachable. I am skilled at engaging and disengaging conversations.
  • Professional- I highly value professionalism. I pride myself on maintaining professionalism every day.
