Civic Leader and Owner of Durant Auto Group in Texas

About Jerry Durant Weatherford

For nearly 45 years, Jerry Durant has worked in the auto dealership industry in North Texas. Today he is the owner and managing principal of the Jerry Durant Auto Group just miles West of the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Working for his father’s Chevrolet dealership throughout high school and college, and then starting his own Durant auto location with a bank loan in 1970, Mr. Durant has developed his enterprise into one of the most successful sellers of new and used automobiles in the region, offering Buicks, Chevrolets, Cadillacs, GMC trucks, Hyundais, Scions, and Toyotas. Most Durant Auto locations are in Weatherford, with one Toyota dealership in Granbury; Durant Auto has also managed a collision repair center since the 1990s.

For almost as much time, Jerry Durant has been an American Quarter Horse enthusiast, owning and working several cutting horses and derby racehorses. Pooling resources with associates in the 1980s, he purchased the Silverado ranch, a training facility on the Brazos River for champion quarter horses and thoroughbreds from Parker County, and has earned millions in prize winnings over the decades. He hosts the annual Brazos Bash event at Silverado, and he is a longstanding member of the National Cutting Horse Association.

A concerned citizen and lifelong Weatherford resident, Mr. Durant is a prominent member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Lion’s Club, formerly the local school board, and the Parker County Industrial Development Board. He is a cofounder of the Weatherford Education Foundation and college scholarship program (Project Opportunity) and a generous contributor to the construction of the new Weatherford High School campus (est. 2003), for which the auditorium is named in his honor.
