Jerry Benson is a seasoned strategic communication professional and U.S. Navy veteran with extensive experience in developing communication strategies and campaigns.

For the past 20 years, Jerry has spear-headed business communications strategies for various organizations, conducting quantitative and qualitative research to aid in the development of campaigns to enhance brand awareness and gauge customer satisfaction.  

Jerry’s greatest strengths are his creativity, drive and leadership. He thrives on challenges, particularly those that enhance the department’s brand.

Adjunct Professor - Communication Studies

San Diego Miramar College

Plans, evaluates, and revises curricula, course content, and course materials.

Plans lectures, assignments, and in-field experiences to collaborate with necessary course curriculum

Prepares course materials and facilitated classroom discussions.

Maintaines student attendance records, grades, and other required records.

Advises students on academic and vocational curricula, and on career issues.

Focus Areas:

Argumentation - This course is a study of argumentation. Emphasis is placed on research, analysis of propositions, testing of evidence, construction of the brief, and preparation for presentation of constructive and refutation cases.

Oral Communication - This course is an introduction to speechmaking. Emphasis is placed on the skills required to organize and deliver a variety of types of speeches. Students give several speeches with and without visual aids.

Conducted quarterly performance measure and portfolio reviews with five business units within the department. Data gathered from these reviews is utilized in the authoring of Executive level reports and the development of departmental strategic goals and objectives.

Researched, prepared and disseminated a multiple subject training curriculum, teaching two classes per week in general military knowledge, correspondence, business writing, resume writing, career management, and other job related courses.

Conducted quantitative and qualitative research to assess customer needs. This research was used in the development of strategic communications plans to measure employee performance, expand services offered, and to increase program awareness.

Developed and implemented business process redesigns in compliance with strategic goals. 

Communicated and coordinated with outside foreign agencies and organizations to conduct projects and accomplish nation-building goals between the United States and its allies.
