Summary

I will be graduating in June of this year! My major is in Journalism: Public Relations and my minor is in Communication Studies. It has been a wild ride; I came to Eugene as a wide-eyed business major and member of the cross country and track teams. After great national success as a team, including a national championship, I realized my passion for public relations.

Nearly two years later, here I am.

I wouldn't have chosen any other path. My experiences have taught me many things; business basics, leadership, work ethic, writing skills, and who I am. The last four years have molded me emotionally, mentally, and socially and my experience at the University of Oregon could not have been better.

I am learning all that I can in school through real-life and simulated situations. Now, it's time for me to step out into the real world. I hope to use the blend of business and public relations education and experience to make my mark in the professional industry. This visual portfolio shows a little bit about what I have been doing the last couple of years.

In the last year, I have helped grow the student chapter by more than 50 percent, raised more than $3,000 through coordination of two fundraising events, and created cross-campus organization relationships including a partnership with the UO E-Business Club to develop a chapter website.

Account Supervisor

Allen Hall Public Relations

I am the supervisor of the team that runs the public relations for the New Venture Championship (www.oregonnvc.com), a business plan competition held annually in Portland, Ore.

I have compiled media lists through the use of Cision and various sourcing research, secured coverage in major media outlets nationally, including the New York Times and The Louisville Courier, and increased Twitter followers (@OregonNVC) by 250 percent and blog views (www.oregonnvc.wordpress.com) by 50 percent in one year.

Oct 2009 - Present

Public Relations Intern

Ophelia's Place

Ophelia's Place had a very small public relations presence before October of 2009. Insert a few University of Oregon public relations majors who are social media nerds, researching fiends, and energetic strategists. We are reformatting everything - from the Twitter account to the website - to gain awareness among local girls ages 10-18 and to raise donorship to help the non-profit evolve.

I am currently working on creating a new website for Ophelia's Place, including the drafting of copy and the placing of graphics. I also helped promote the 2010 Girls Rule! non-profit event attended by 400 people, a near 100 percent increase from 2009.
