Personal Statement

I am currently travelling Australia on a working holiday visa (expiring Jan 2017). I have completed my RSA certificate and I'm looking for a challenging and stimulating role where I can utilise my extensive waitressing experience and be part of a dynamic team. I have always enjoyed working in the hospitality industry and thrive when helping other people; nothing is too much trouble for me. I have also used this passion to co-found a charity organisation 'Soup for the Soul' in my hometown of Nottingham, UK, which aims to provide the homeless with food, clothes and someone to talk to. I'm looking forward to bringing my enthusiasm to an exciting position in Melbourne.

Floor Supervisor

Chiquito Nottingham

At Chiquito, I originally started out as a waitress which involved waiting tables in a fast-paced environment, handling money and using the tills. As this is a restaurant chain, I learned how to meet strict brand standards while still injecting my own personality into the role. During this time I was consistently rated 100% on mystery guest surveys, due to my friendly demeanor and efficiency. I also used my own initiative, going above and beyond to ensure guests needs were met so that they left the restaurant happy.

This led to my promotion to floor supervisor in March 2015, where my duties included opening the restaurant, accepting deliveries and dealing with any issues raised by guests or team members. Although my new responsibilities were sometimes challenging, I am a fast learner and I received excellent feedback from the general and area managers. As a floor supervisor, I was also fully trained on the bar which included basic coffee training.

The Gelsmoor

The Gelsmoor is an independent pub restaurant in my hometown and was my first experience as a waitress. This is where I began to learn about the hospitality industry; waiting tables in a more relaxed environment, I enjoyed the ability to develop a relationship with the regular customers whilst delivering a high standard of service.

Team Member

At Argos, a catalogue retail store, I was on a short term contract over the Christmas period. My duties involved serving customers and dispatching goods during this busy time. I thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the customers and fulfilling their needs.

As previously mentioned, I have always taken a keen interest in charity. Examples of this include; 'Soup for the Soul', helping to teach English to school children in Rwanda when I was 16 and taking part in an escape and evade challenge while at university, which raised over $1000 for motor neurone disease. This is also how I discovered my love for travel.
