Activities Coordinator

Maryhaven Center of Hope

Over the past three years, I have worked in a classroom setting working with Autistic individuals. During this time, I have spent numerous hours working with this individuals teaching them basic life skills, assisting them in their everyday needs, and planning community integration trips for them to enjoy. As the leader of the classroom, I am responsible for coordinating other activities, such as arts and crafts, music therapy, and games during free time. Working with these individuals on a daily basis has made me come to the realization that I enjoy helping people, and would like to incorporate my interest in nutrition with assisting people.

Cafe Manager

Port City Java

I worked at a coffee shop while living in North Carolina for a period of time. While at the coffee shop I was quickly promoted from a barista to a cafe manager. As a manager I was responsible for scheduling staff at the cafe, ordering coffee and other supplies, as well as taking a weekly inventory.  I also performed barista duties, such as making coffee drinks and food items, as well as serving customers.

Jennifer Grief is a student at the University of Alabama in the Distance Education program. She is currently studying to receive her Bachelors of Science degree in Food and Nutrition, with plans to become a Registered Dietitian. She completed her Bachelors in Psychology degree in 2005 at SUNY Stony Brook.

I am currently a student at the University of Alabama, looking to become a Registered Dietician once my schooling is complete. I currently work with Autistic adults, and recently began reading on how their diet my affect their daily lives. This sparked my interest even further as I was already curious about eating to prevent certain life threatening diseases. In the future, I would either like to work as a RD helping people with disease prevention, or working with people trying to loose weight.

There are a few different pathways that I am considering when I become a Registered Dietitian such as: disease prevention through diet, vegetarian diet, as well as weight management.
