Why We Might Want To Talk

Is your fundraising stale? Not sure what to make of the Social Media landscape? Want to build a tribe? Let me show you how I helped The Salvation Army in Indiana radically transform their online presence. Learn how we engaged millenials by matching them with causes dear to their hearts. See how that experience is paying off for nonprofits all across the country.

I have extensive fundraising experience and teach workshops on grant writing, social media, and online fundraising. I love to communicate, whether it's with a microphone or a keyboard. I've been blogging for over eight years and have hosted a radio program for three years. When I'm feeling particularly creative, I write fiction. I've published two novels: Trolley Dodgers and Kansaska. Delicious Fiction will be released in September 2011. I also contributed to Achieving Excellence in Fundraising, 3rd Edition.

Development Director

The Salvation Army

During my tenure as Development Director of The Salvation Army, we have had four record breaking Tree ofLights Campaigns (Annual Campaign). We radically altered the Army’s web strategy —including aggressiveuse of Social Media, creating a new web template, and visual story telling via YouTube and Flickr. I also co-host Red Shield Radio on WIBC FM  -a fun filled program that highlights the work of the Salvation Army andother nonprofit organizations. Finally, we created a youth-based campaign centered around our mostcompelling cause: homelessness. Homelessness Bites has become a ground breaking new venture for The Salvation Army. (
