Jeffrey Lipovetz has nearly two decades of experience in the mining industry, with duties ranging from training and planning to management and supervision. He began his career at Hibbing Taconite Company as a Mine Engineer and Operations Supervisor in 1994. There, Jeffrey Lipovetz performed crew supervision and training, mine planning for both short and long term goals, and completed surveys as needed.After nearly 10 years with the company, Jeffrey Lipovetz moved into a Technical Manager position for Cliffs International Management Company in Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela. His primary responsibility there entailed management of the Quality Control and Training programs.In 2005, Jeffrey Lipovetz became the Area Mining Manager for the Northshore Mining Company in Babbitt, Minnesota, where he was accountable for all mining operations and engineering functions. After two years, he became the Vice President and General Manager for Michigan Operations. There, he was charged with management and oversight for the Tilden and Empire mines in addition to the LS&I railroad.Since 2012, Jeffrey Lipovetz has acted as the Vice President for Eastern Canada Iron Ore at Cliffs Natural Resources, Inc. He is responsible for oversight of profit and loss margins for the Eastern Canada business unit, and he manages environmental impact and ensures the health and safety of his 1,000 employees.Jeffrey Lipovetz earned his Bachelor’s in Engineering from Montana College of Mineral Science and Technology in 1988. His leadership skills have led him to receive numerous awards and accolades, including the 2007 Mine Safety and Health Administration Sentinels of Safety Award, for which he was also a 2010 qualifier.
