The role was newly created to improve the visibility and predictability of performance by establishing a ground-up, company-wide  performance management environment. Reported to the CFO.

•   Established first department-by-department performance measurements and targets for 10 departments with integration to consolidated financials.

 •   Developed first planning system, forecasting models, reporting tools, and process to effectively manage performance to plan.

•   Trained 10 non-financial operations managers planning, forecasting, variance analysis,  and correction  planning to help them manage performance to achieve plan goals.

NSE was a small Venture Capital firm which also developed a specialized Executive Information Portal geared for the technology industry.  Personic Software was an NSE portfolio company which developed a leading Human Resource solution and sold related consulting services.

VP of Finance, Personic Software.  The role was established to provide interim turnaround leadership after "new" series A funding.  Responsible for Finance, Legal, HR, and It.  Reported to Chairman.

  • Achieved a $1m one-time cash gains through AR and AP refinements and AP workout.
  • Achieved a 30% on-going burn-rate deduction from comprehensive cost restructuring.
  • Strengthened all critical cash, accounting and legal processes.

Regional Business Development, NSE, Inc.  The role was created to assist with building several financial components of the portal solution and to develop portal business in the Mid-West region.

  • Contributed to product development for executive dashboard and financial system components.
  • Generated and qualified leads and conducted product demonstrations to prospects.

The position was newly created to implement a number of development and scale initiatives.  Responsible for finance, HR, and facilities.  Reported to President.

• Represented finance on "Web Swat Team", chartered with developing B2B trading  community site  with full integration to internal systems. Also acted as intermediary  for sales, IT, and management needs.

• Established first formal policies for finance and HR policies along with processes and reporting tools.

• Responsible for managing $55M credit line.

Norstan Consulting, Inc. and Connect Computer, Inc.

Norstan Consulting was formed to combine a number of acquired regional technology consulting ventures.   The firm provided a wide range of software development and networking consulting services. 

Division Controller, Norstan Consulting:  The role was newly created to serve the financial needs of two of three regions. Responsible for finance and customer agreement negotiation. Reported to VP of Business Operations.

• Developed and managed $90M financial plan to consolidate merged sister firms in domain regions.

• Developed comprehensive planning package for all 15 units, trained sister-company controllers, and managed $120M full consolidated roll-up. 

• Developed and implemented first comprehensive customer   agreement process; trained  sales and   service employees; and   managed the agreement process.

Controller, Connect Computer:  The role was newly created to address numerous growth and scale challenges. Responsible for finance and customer agreement negotiation. Reported to VP Finance and VP of Business Operations.

• Developed and managed a $65M financial plan for all eight branches and HQ functions.

• Vastly improved the visibility and predictability of performance with first forecast system -  which contributed heavily to full achievement of financial goals.

• Developed a variety of tools and processes to help non-financial operations managers more  effectively manage their business unit's performance to acheive plan goals. 

• Negotiated about 50customer agreements.

Worldtrak developed a CRM solution and sold consulting services.

The role was newly created to address scale and growth goals from the firms first VC funding round. Reported to CFO

• Developed an executive and investor dashboard which summarized key performance  achievement metrics

• Initiated policy, process, system improvements and other scale efforts appropriate for growth goals.

Softlab, Inc.

The firm's German parent was a wholly owned subsidiary of automaker BMW.  It's U.S. division developed a software engineering platform and methodology for Fortune 500 banks, utilities, and telecoms.

Responsible for U.S. finance, HR, and legal. Reported U.S. CEO and parent CFO.

• Worked jointly with Fortune 500 prospects to produced up to $20M  investment analysis  of complex, multi-year software implementations.

• Developed and managed $8 Million U.S. consolidated financial plan

• Negotiated master software license agreements with Fortune 500 customers.

• Led a comprehensive corporate realignment
