A former student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Jeffrey Bussean combined his love of design and presentation with his passion for the culinary arts when he established Bussean Custom Caterers in 1975. Taking pride in their inventive arrangements, Jeffrey Bussean and his team strive to reflect the theme and the mood of the event with a coordinated color scheme and creative layouts. Jeffrey Bussean offers established menus with various motifs, such as Hawaiian, which features Tenderloin Shish Kabobs and Islander Pepper Steak, and the International Buffet, which highlights Irish, German, and Italian cuisines. However, clients are not required to select one of these menus; Jeffrey Bussean’s event coordinators will work with customers to create a menu to their liking. Additionally, Jeffrey Bussean holds his servers to the highest standards, offering the usage of silver service to add another element of class. In conjunction with his catering service, Jeffrey Bussean operates three unique and historical venues: The Grand Ballroom at Joliet Union Station, the Patrick C. Haley Mansion, and The Chateau Bu-Sché, all within an hour of Chicago. Originally designed by Jarvis Hunt in 1912, Joliet Union Station underwent renovations beginning in 1989, and the Grand Ballroom opened for business in 1991, offering 45-foot ceilings, a marble staircase, and crystal chandeliers. Jeffrey Bussean and his staff can accommodate as many as 350 guests, who claim private use of the Ballroom and the outdoor balcony. The Patrick C. Haley Mansion, built as the result of former Joliet Mayor Patrick C. Haley’s conception of a castle on a hill, overlooking Joliet, Illinois, now serves as an ideal spot for weddings, corporate luncheons, and more. Though recently renovated because of the efforts of Jeffrey Bussean, the Mansion still retains its original cherry, oak, and mahogany woodwork, along with six fireplaces, stained glassed windows, and friezes. Additionally, The Chateau Bu-Sché, located in Alsip, Illinois, provides elegantly landscaped grounds and a sophisticated foyer, also ideal for weddings. Under Jeffrey Bussean’s direction, the grounds remain beautifully maintained, offering a picturesque backdrop for photos and a romantic creek-side walking path.
