At the Department of Economic and Community Development I was responsible for working with businesses and companies to retain, expand and attract them to the State of Connecticut.  The retention, epansion and attraction of businesses was done by offering financial inventives and tax benefits.  I was also responsible for assisting businesses and potential businesses with finding and qualifying for the program or service offered by the State of Connecticut or one of it's partners.

Executive Assistant

Office of Governor M. Jodi Rell

In the Governor's Office I served as the Executive Assistant to the Chief of Staff.  I was responsible for scheduling events and meetings for the Chief of Staff and the Governor.  I acted as a liasion and a first point of contact for business leaders, elected officials and agency heads in attempting to assist them with their needs.  Throughout my tenure as the Executive Assistant to the Chief of Staff I organized the 2010 Governor's Care and Share food drive which raised over $20,000 in cash and over three tons of food for local food banks.  I also helped to organize the visit of the 2009 Yankess World Series trophy to the State Capitol Building, which attracted roughly 2,500 citizens.  In this position I was required to be professional and private as  I was priveleged to sensitive information.  At times I was asked by the Governor to represent her at various events by meeting with constituents or presenting proclamations.  At the end of the Governor's term in office I was charged with archiving the Governor's papers with the state library.  The Governor's collection of papers includes thousands and thousands of items.

Staff Assistant

As a staff assistant in the Office of Governor M. Jodi Rell I was assigned to the Constituent Services Department.  In this position I was responsible for communicating with constituents and citizens on various topics ranging from public safety to the environment.  This was accomplished through email, mail and phone calls.  In this position I was also responsible for supervising five other staff assistants in their duties.  It was also a requirement that I be available should the Governor need assistance in an event that was being held.  This position required me to be a point of contact on all constituent matters with various state agencies.

At the University of New Haven I studied to receive my Masters in Public Administration with a concentration in City Managment.  During my coursework at the University of New Haven I completed an extensive project that evaluated the City of New Haven senior centers and started the process to have them nationally accredited.

At the University of Connecticut I studied political science and completed two internships.  My first internship was for a state representative during the legislative session where I was responsible for responding to constituent concerns, researching topcis such as pollution and performance based budgeting and drafting letters and correspondence.  My second internship was in the Office of Governor John G. Rowland where  I was assigned to the Constituent Services Department and was responsible for responding to constituent concerns and performing basic office duties.  Working in the Office of Governor Rowland allowed me to meeting Governor M. Jodi Rell and in later years become a member of her staff.  While attending the University of Connecticut I was involved in various organziations such as university chapter of College Republicans, the Connecticut Union of College Republicans and the Undergraduate Student Government.
