Primary role was network administration and installation at the infrastructure and server level. Because there were only three other network administrators at my level in the IT department, I would typically control or influence a project from the ground up. Example Projects
·Designed and administered a server consolidation program through the use of VMware ESX/i and vCenter. I created the strategic documents, physically installed the hardware (ran cabling in the data center and installed the rack, servers, switches, and SAN), administrated the environment, migrated physical servers to the vCenter. To this day the virtual environment continues to grow, and there growing interest in desktop virtualization.
·Performed technical lead role in the implementation of a Microsoft Forefront Identity Management and Synchronization Service to synchronize our on premise Active Directory with Microsoft Live. Teamed with a Microsoft consultant, I installed FIM 2010 in a 2008 R2 environment, and I installed the PCNS service on all domain controllers. I defined user attribute mapping, worked through a multitude of scenarios for issues that would arise. The installation of FIM 2010 was the backbone of the university's transition to the Microsoft Live e-mail, calendar, and SkyDrive.
·Implementation of centralized patch management for Windows Servers. I presented the need for more robust patch management solution for Windows servers, consulted with various vendors, and tested multiple patch management solutions. The implementation of the centralized Windows server patch management is key when preparing reports for audits.
·Implementation and Administration of TippingPoint Intrusion Prevention System. During the installation, I physically installed the cabling and fail-over modules necessary for fault tolerance. I daily monitored triggered IPS filters and modified them as necessary. I managed updates, and generate reports on network incidents.
·Implementation and Administration of various server environments and applications. I was the server administrator and IT point-of-contact for a number of academic projects involving Window Server (2003 and 2008), RHEL5, Microsoft SQL, MySQL, Apache, Tomcat, and IIS.
Primary Role is providing remote and on-site desktop support for faculty/staff offices as well as campus computer labs. Installation of computer and printer equipment for individual offices, departments, and campus computer labs. Installation and support of a myriad of office and academic applications in Windows, Macintosh, and Linux (Fedora and Redhat) environments. Consult with academic departments and student organization to assess the necessary hardware and software requirements to complete organizational projects. Example Project Create a solution for Active Directory authentication for Mac OS desktops. Prior to this project, it was considered impossible by our IT department to integrate Mac OS computer with Active Directory Authentication. After receiving Mac OS X support training from Apple, I developed a solution for integrating Mac OS X desktops with our Active Directory. To this day the Support group of our IT department uses the documentation I created for adding Apple computers to our domain.
Primary role is installation, support, and consultation of various hardware and software in main hospital as well as ancillary satellite locations in the CSRA.
Provide IT consultation for the hospitals purchase of a new point-of-sale system for the gift shop. I met with the gift shop managers, discussed their concerned, and provided technical input in meetings with the gift shop managers and various vendors. I installed the new desktop hardware and software, and I trained the gift shop supervisors in the proper use of the new POS system.
Installation and support of work-from-home offices for remote coders in the Medical Records department. I consulted with the network administrators and applied the necessary security configuration and installed VPN software on desktop computers for use in home offices. Physically delivered and installed workstations for home offices to access University Healthcare System domain over VPN.
