Objective

Mass media and communications major interested in growing professionally and starting my life after college with finding a career that falls into broadcast production, public relations or advertising.

I have a proven record of working hard and exceeding employer's expectations. I desire to apply my writing skills and mass communications classes to improve my employer's efficiency and thereby increasing their bottom line.

Developed communication and professional skills through communications major and mass media concentration. Have both hands-on experience in front and behind the microphone and camera, and a working knowledge of the important the critical and practical issues related to a broadcasting career. Contain the skills to plan, film, write, report and edit individual television news and feature reports, also can plan, produce, record, report and edit audio news stories and  demonstrate experience in multimedia field reporting. Understand and can use digital design, typography and imagery applied to print and web publication. Have the knowledge of FinalCut, InDesign, Dreamweaver and Photoshop; to edit and create media and web production. Also, developed a hardworking attitude, dependability and responsibility through working academically and athletically; taking on a full college course load and having two jobs while playing a Division 1 college sport of being active member of Longwood University’s Women’s soccer program.

• Film sporting events for Longwood University, then edit and put together a highlight reel and situation/result sheet, then send out to Richmond News Channels for use off of their FTP site.

• Used FinalCut to edit highlights and reel was placed on the Longwood YouTube site and offered a recap of the athletic event filmed.

Media Reporting

Through my course load at Longwood, I was taught the advanced practices of the news gathering process with an emphasis on examining records, interviewing news sources, evaluating credibility of Internet sources and analyzing newsworthiness of information. I have the ability to write news stories for print and broadcast media.

Broadcast Production

During my education at Longwood, the courses I took were broadcast production specfic. The courses  explored editorial issues, taught aesthetic principles and professional standards and practices of broadcast news, field producing and reporting. I learned advanced skills in producing, viewing, listening to, and analyzing videotapes and radio newscasts.
