Health Information Specialist

The Health Information Specialist maintains the clinics electronic health records in accordance with established procedures and policies.


  • Answer phone calls and emails from internal and external customers related to records requests and questions.
  • Evaluate appropriateness of authorizations for disclosure to meet state and HIPAA rules.
  • Document all requests in the EMR and other systems as appropriate.
  • Process incoming and outgoing records requests.

Pharmacy Technician

The program involvecoding, classifying, and indexing diagnoses and procedures for the purpose of standardization, retrieval, and statistical analysis. I was trained to prepare and file insurance claim forms for reimbursement. There was a special emphasis on ethical and legal responsibilities, data quality, financial reimbursement, diagnosis-related groups (DRG’s) and ambulatory patient classification (APCs).
