Director, Ambulatory and Emergency Department EHR Systems

Responsible for defining the implementation and operational support strategy of the Health System’s Ambulatory and Emergency Department EHRs.

§Governing multiple teams, including vendors, in the development of overall strategy, project plans, budgetary models, implementation schedules, and resourcing requirements to sustain simultaneous projects to convert 180+ ambulatory practices, 800+ physicians, multiple emergency departments, and 3500+ clinical users from paper-based charting to fully integrated EHR systems

§Participated in development of contracts, detailed plans, and integration specifications to enable the integration of Health System data into the local RHIO in support of meeting meaningful use requirements

§Developed policies, procedures, and operational support guidelines for ambulatory and emergency department EHR systems

§Recruited, hired, developed, and mentored staff for the application support divisions

Responsible for enterprise-wide information technology strategy development, clinical systems analysis, project and change management, and clinical relations management.Also responsible for building and managing new clinical support units by defining governance, strategy, and operational guidelines

Primary liaison between customers and all functions within areas of responsibilities. Fully responsible for seven (7) hospital departments and all sub-specialty clinics, fourteen (14) research departments, and 3000+ users.

  • Designed business plans, developed resources, and directed operations for the University’s enterprise wide Rich Media, Collaboration, and Emerging Technologies Development unit
  • Designed business plans and directed operations for the Enterprise Mobility Services unit
  • Managed the delivery of enterprise-wide & departmental-specific clinical solutions including GE, Siemens, Eclipsys, Phillips, McKesson, Lumedx, Nextgen, and others ensuring the deliverables create value and contributed to the University’s mission
  • Transformed the characteristics of daily operations by injecting new “LEAN” workflow designs, facilitating resource and capital redistribution, and developing new programs to comply with safety and quality improvement initiatives
  • Led multi-disciplinary teams through RFI/RFP development, vendor selection, contract negotiations, project planning & execution, and post-implementation support
  • Departmental Lead in design, build, and activation of major facilities’ projects including new hospitals and ambulatory care & surgery centers
  • Collaborated with medical leads to define the operational workflows for the University of Michigan’s Comprehensive Depression Center
  • Led the application development of proprietary web-based clinical systems
