Williston Financial Group - WFG National Title

My main focus is to consult with clients, both internal (150+ sales executives) and external (our real estate clients), helping improve and grow their businesses by creating innovative marketing approaches and taking better advantage of marketing related technologies.

I project manage a small team that handles all of WFG's website development, and 3rd party software integrations taking projects from an idea, through our legal and compliance processes, into completion and then implementation training. 

In my spare time I handle our affiliate marketing arrangements with outside vendors, help in National recruiting efforts, sales trainings, and the organization and marketing of WFG events.

As the Director of Digital Marketing and Innovation I worked directly with the local area sales team on implementing new marketing tactics, sales training, and one on one with a select group of external clients to help improve and grow their businesses. I also taught classes for local area brokerages and spoke at industry events on technology tools and various marketing methods specifically aimed at getting more business for real estate agents.

1000watt is a marketing, design and strategy consulting firm focused on the real estate industry.

1000watt works with real estate brokerages, media companies, technology companies and MLS's to strengthen their brands, improve their marketing, and out-innovate their competitors.

As a project manager I was responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific client projects, ensuring consistency with company strategy, timelines and project deliverables.

I regularly provided guidance on marketing strategies, user testing, website architecture, search engine optimization, content strategy (creation, curation) and brand reputation management when appropriate, depending on the client/project needs.

1000watt also built a software app called Nudge for which I handled all the marketing and promotional activities including email marketing and multiple follow up campaigns leading potential customers from lead status to paying customer.

Selliken Systems (HomeQuest and M Realty)

As the Director of Marketing and Product Development at HomeQuest (an integrated CRM and WordPress IDX property search platform for the real estate industry) I was responsible for growing the product user base, driving engagement via product updates, email marketing campaigns, and building strategic growth partnerships with external partners (MLS's and other related entities).

I also consulted a group of 30+ real estate agents from our sister company (M Realty) on their digital marketing, social media, and web strategies, while I handled all SEO and lead generation efforts for the network of 100+ websites company wide.

I managed the marketing and promotion for all Inman News products and events, through our multiple email campaigns and social media channels (Blog, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)

Duties Include:

  • Monitor company wide marketing and social media strategy
  • Manage daily email campaigns (including html template design and messaging/copy)
  • Monitoring/brand management on various social media platforms
  • Building relationships with industry partners and media/press to help promote Inman events and products
  • Oversee creative and website development team
  • Monitor and report weekly web analytic trends
  • Coordinate and co-host monthly webinars

Occasionally I write technology and marketing related articles which have been published on the Inman blog and in our special reports.  I was also named one of the top 50 (#15) influential real estate people on Twitter by 4Realz, a social media marketing and technology consultancy.

As the Senior Business Development Representative for Western Title & Escrow, I consistently worked to uphold and enhance the company's image and standards of excellence in the local Real Estate marketplace.  I was responsible for keeping pace with developments in marketing and Real Estate/Web 2.0 technology and employing that knowledge to create ideas and tools that helped our clients grow their business, which in turn helped our team grow our business.

Responsibilities included: marketing and technology related classes and presentations, e-mail marketing for the Portland Metro division, database management, monitoring analytics/ROI, advertising, developing promotional collateral, event promotions, brand identity, emerging technologies, team coaching, and cheerleading. Occasionaly I performed notary and escrow closings when the need presented itself.

I also created and maintained one of the title and escrow industry's first marketing blogs where clients could visit to find marketing ideas and local market information.

B.S. Business Management and Marketing

Portland State University

I moved to Portland in 1996 to attend Portland State University's School of Business.  I graduated in 2002 with Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Management and Marketing.  I maintained a 3.75 GPA throughout the School of Business program.

Working at various sales related jobs to put myself through school was definately a challenge at times, but very rewarding in the end.  Portland State's urban setting, and flexibility in scheduling allowed me to gain real world experience that most other university programs couldn't.


Crater High School

Crater High School was the first high school in Oregon to offer the "School Within a School" program.  The Crater School of Business was a natural choice for me.  As part of the program, each student was required to participate in one of the businesses within the school (Student Bank, Student Store).  Neither of those businesses really interested me, so I convinced the instructors to allow me to start my own business and purchase the necessary equipment.  My t-shirt business was a huge success and more than doubled the profit of the other two student businesses.

In the two years I attended the Crater High School of Business, I took part in their internship program a total of 4 times.  I gained valuable experience in:

  • Graphic design at a commercial sign and banner company
  • Visual Basic programming at a local computer technology center
  • Photo manipulation and restoration at a digital photography lab
  • Office management at a reforestation company
