Directed the company’s overall wireless strategy and drove initiatives across the company to achieve aggressive objectives. Leveraged the wireless system advantages using AMD products and core technology for IP based Telecom Infrastructure, Mobile Compute platforms, HD media solutions for handheld wireless platforms and visual display systems. Identified and strengthened wireless synergies between product and business organizations to enhance AMD solutions.

Led all worldwide business related activities for AMD’s $200M Embedded computing solutions businesses. Managed this global business unit comprised of both 32 and 64 bit embedded product solutions based on x86 and MIPS architectures. Championed all P&L related activities for the division. Instituted actions in the business to return from an investment to a profitable business with the company.

·Grew sales and revenue for direct and distribution channel customers on a global basis by 25% within a year by realigning go to market efforts focusing on strategic customers to increase and sustain sales volumes

·Optimized multi-site engineering organization to include rigorous program management and development process metrics and to improve product delivery predictability

·Replaced key personnel to improve depth of skills and capabilities within the organization

Vice President, Mobility and Wireless Architecture

Led the strategy and architecture definition for HP’s Mobility solutions as part of the Office of Corporate Strategy and Technology. Using market segment analysis and customer focus, developed strategic Mobility initiatives. Influenced the various product groups to align and leverage common development directions to deliver HP’s Mobility Experience while meeting business and financial goals for the HP sectors.

·        Defined and led enterprise wide cross functional mobility strategic initiative enabling HP to bring solutions to market.Architected strategy and plan to bring all HP efforts in Mobility together to leverage core strengths, identified $3B in incremental revenue, and presented the grand strategy to the HP Executive Committee and HP’s business customers.

·        Developed HP’s Mobility Architecture generally in use today.

Vice President and General Manager, Connectivity Products and Services Division

Led R&D and business teams delivering WLAN hardware and software for commercial and consumer use. Developed software enabling businesses and consumers to be always-connected in a service-centric world. Created solutions using internal IP and partner products to provide a persistent connectivity for users of personal computing appliances.

·        Administered the overall business with a $75M P&L with $6M budget.

·        Supervised development and launch of HP branded commercial and consumer services for wireless connectivity across public access services (WLAN and WWAN) and attracted over 5000 subscribers in 3 months.

·        Managed 3 businesses in diverse geographic locations with 75 engineering and marketing personnel including one general manager and 3 directors (engineering and marketing).

·        Successfully closed down the business unit after a corporate strategy change with minimal impact to customers.

Director of Technical Solutions

Delivered end to end solutions to customers’ (wireless carriers) needs by defining the roadmaps to align the efforts of all operating groups within the Worldwide Wireless Messaging business. Worked directly with wireless carriers’ technical and business teams and implemented solutions using smart handheld products with operating systems scaled for portable products. Optimized energy consumption due to the small power cells implemented in many of these devices. Developed secure communications solutions leading to e-commerce deployment on many of these smart handheld products.

·Led service provider certification of $1B in wireless data products on many global paging and cellular data networks.

·Employed focused processes to reduce the number of operator approval cycles for all products by 50%.

·Managed a group of 3 directors and 28 systems engineers with $3M in budget responsibility.

Director of Product Development

Led several teams of design engineers in all disciplines in the development of dual band, dual mode handsets operating in compliance with the IS-136 specification. Managed engineers developing cellular (850 and 1900 MHz) handheld terminals for both analog (AMPS) and digital (TDMA) functionality. Presented solutions to cellular service providers worldwide.

·Instituted development processes enabling team to deliver programs on time to plan of record.

·Completed development of dual band dual mode handset prior to business being placed in to JV.

·Managed 3 departments of 75 engineers, including 3 engineering managers, with a $6M budget.

Director of Business Operations

Managed the distribution and market support for all Paging Infrastructure products to wireless service providers in the Latin America region. Directed the next generation Simulcast Paging Control Systems and Paging Base Stations businesses. Led several teams of engineering personnel in the design and development of high volume Paging Subscriber products.

·Operationally directed all paging infrastructure deployments in Latin America.

·Managed 22 sales and systems engineering personnel supporting a direct sales model and a $25M P&L with $7M budget.

·Increased regional direct sales revenues by 43% year over year ($25M to $36M).

·Increased revenues for the Global Paging Transmitter business from $75M to >$100M in 2 years.

·Supervised 6 departments of 120 people (engineering and marketing) and $8M budget.
