Rhode Island School of Design

R.I.S.D. is one of the worlds leading  art and design Universities. I completed my industrial design degree in the top 5% G.P.A. of my graduating class.  R.I.S.D. was very influential in the development of my creative approach to problem solving in design and business development. 

Interests

In my youth, I competed in several adrenaline motor sports, but now prefer family based outdoor activities. Sailing, skiing and hiking. Jeg er medlem til Bergens Kystlag,  og eier en Nordlandsbåt. 

Summary

BIOGRAPHY

Born into an industrious family of entrepreneurs, I started my career at a family business that designed, manufactured and sold industrial machinery and industrial process management solutions. 

Shortly after graduating from design university, I moved to New York City to pursue a career in the fashion accessories business followed by two decades of employment and daily work together with the Owner and President of the international accessories brand Barry Kieselstein-Cord. 

In March of 2011, I left Kieselstein-Cord to act as a consultant to creatively driven businesses in early growth phase. After advising several companies, i joined VisCo, AS Norway, where I drove market exposure and sales for all products and services delivered to Oil and Gas, Maritime, Defence and Urban architecture businesses.

My work at VISCO started with commercialization of a 3D visualization software technology, business strategy and development and continued with sales and marketing for all of VISCO's products and services internationally.   

I am married to the Norwegian painter, Torild Stray. In addition to being a supportive husband, I advise Torild on many aspects of her international career.  We live in Bergen Norway with our daughter Helena. I am an avid sailor, owning and maintaining a class 1 sailboat.

Sales and Marketing

VISCO AS, Norway

  • Worked directly with the president and CEO to develop marketing strategy through the commercialization phase of a disruptive digital technology. This included brand refinement and market positioning, web site copy, documents for a Joint Industry Project, Resource council of Norway DEMO 2000 and successful Innovation Norway IFU and OFU grants. 
  • Commercial management for key accounts
  • Manage creation, distribution and analysis of monthly e-mail marketing campaigns to 1200 recipients
  • Manage my own contact lists and sales and marketing activity within CRM 
  • Sell all products and services at a strategic level internationally including phone campaigns, marketing campaigns, international trade fairs, major company events and direct sales meetings with individuals and groups.  Entire sales process from initial contact, to tendering, closing sales and debrief.

  • Headed the start up of a licensed business that designed, presented and sold branded accessories products on QVC live television to several million viewers.
  • Duties included; Follow creative direction, design jewelry collections; outsource overseas production; interface with license holder for business development and lead generation; represent the products and brand on multiple, one-hour, live broadcasts including a sold-out show.

Designer, Sterling Silver division

  • Spearheaded the reintroduction of the Sterling Silver Jewelry division for wholesale through high end boutiques worldwide. Responsible for all operations within this division.
  • Designed multiple seasonal collections and helped generate first year sales of $3.8 million.
