A theater actress in New York, I arrived in L A and quickly left acting and turned to producing and directing plays. I became part of a theater company, Actors Alley, under artistic director Jordan Charney. Shortly there after, Jordan made me the artist director of the second stage for seven years. Over the next ten years I was active as a producer / director for three different theater companies. My “day jobs” included working as veterinarian technician, animal behaviorist and teaching acting. I taught theater games to actors at Tracey Roberts Theater and Adam Hill Theater. Opportunity moved me into casting feature films and TV, Marlyn / Turco Casting. Following casting I formed Marlyn Management launching talents like John Corbett and Cynthia Stevenson. The first feature film that I directed was the “USA’s Up All Night” classic, “Bikini Car Wash”. My first directing venture into TV was a presentational sitcom pilot, “Making It” starring Ernest Thomas. Chosen as a candidate for the highly competitive, AFI Directing Workshop For Women, I wrote and directed the award-winning short, “Escaping Jersey”, narrated by Marietta Hartley. I have directed over 20 short films including "The Stronger”. Show runner, Warren Hutcherson, hired me as a staff writer for the NBC sitcom, ”Built To Last”. Unfortunately ”Built To Last” had a short life. I have shadowed as a director / writer on Seinfeld, Suddenly Susan, The West Wing and CSI Miami. For West Side Media, I serve as a contributing editor on their six magazines. My articles can be read monthly in the magazines and on my blog. I sit on the board of directors of Alliance Of Women Directors and I am an alumna of Fordham University at Lincoln Center. My other interests are oil painting photography and I have a passion for Apple Computers and everything ‘gadget’. http://www.janreesman.com 310 739-7334 http://www.virtualstudiosentertainment.com
