Graduate medical education programs across the United States have been faced with ever-stricter accreditation requirements. Due to threats of government control over medical residency and fellowship programs, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) was created instead to monitor educational and duty hours standards. Emory University's School of Medicine (SOM) has the largest internal medical residency program in the country. It also has the largest Cardiology Fellowship Program, including three advanced sub-specialties.  At Emory's SOM, I am the subject–matter expert on accreditation requirements, advising five program directors on these annually-updated requirements to ensure compliance.

Responsibilities include:

• Point–person for accreditation site visit document preparation

• Design evaluation forms and process for: program, faculty, fellow, multi–source, procedural competency and rotation

• Manage evaluation data in New Innovations Residency Management Suite (RMS) software for five programs

• Revise, update, develop process and materials for and present four Program orientations, including: electronic and

paper manuals, preparing notices on RMS and Blackboard, revising, organizing and disseminating curricula, ensuring

RMS and university enrollments

• Monitor and manage completion of Online ECG tests in CardioSource Plus for Institutions™; report on results

• Write, develop and create materials, information and reference tools on Division website, Blackboard and RMS

• Collaborate with fellows to create, design and develop digital reference library on Blackboard

• Counsel fellows on NRSA Training Grant policies; coordinate pre‐award process of fellow NIH grant opportunities

• Assist fellows in award receipt process to ensure appropriate allocation of funds from private grants

• Research Online journals for inclusion in curricula

• Coordinate CITI certifications to ensure fellows’ compliance with Emory human subject research guidelines

• Train fellows and faculty on RMS to record and confirm procedures, enter duty hours and complete evaluations

• Execute activities for two annual Fellowship events for Division: Graduation Banquet and New Fellows’ Picnic

• Track attendance in RMS for conferences and prepare attendance reports; monitor fellows’ duty hour requirements
