A developmental programme consisting of four nine month long placements, and five weeks of formal training. Responsibilities included mechanical design and project engineering within R&D, and project management of a key multi-million pound, multi partner, research and development project. I also held the role of secretary and profile manager to the R&D Board. I was based in two international rotations in Fribourg, Switzerland and in Tucson, Arizona. Training modules have developed presentation skills, commercial analysis skills, Lean manufacturing, negotiation training, and also technical training in metallurgy, design for manufacture, additive layer manufacturing, IVHM.

Responsible for the delivery of numerous product developments for aerospace gas turbine engines. I reinforced key mechanical design skills such as design for manufacture, as well as developing specialist skills such as design for extreme aerospace environments, FEA analysis and aerospace certification. I coordinated teams from different functions in the business to deliver the product to meet the customer requirements in accordance with the project cost and schedule constraints.

Design of ultrasonic sensor assemblies for use in the medical industry. An introduction to piezo-ceramic technology, CAD, design for assembly and reliability analysis. Key projects consisted of the delivery of a prototype integrated intravenous flow sensor and the design and commission of an automated sensor characterisation unit.
