My name is Jamie Gilliland and I'm a student at the University of Alabama and I am pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Human Environmental Science. I chose Food and Nutrition as my major because I am interested in becoming a Registered Dietitian. I am also interested in Diabetes Education, especially since I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 16. Having diabetes and going through all of the hardships it brings has made me more aware of what I eat and making sure I keep a good blood sugar level. Dietetics is a great field for me because I want to teach others how to eat healthier and make better lifestyle choices.
