If your sweet tooth has ever been satisfied by the mouth-watering treats made by The Hershey Company, then I have played an integral part of bringing it to you. No, I am not the man responsible for concocting the many delicious recipes and combinations of premium chocolate and delectable add ins. I am not the guy who designs the eye catching packaging, sing along slogans or even the TV ads that make you drop what you’re doing to go get a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. I am, however, the proverbial man behind the curtain. At the Hershey Company, I have dedicated the last 18 years to ensuring that your Hershey experience is nothing short of perfection. As a Team Leader at Chocolate World, I oversee the inner workings and technical operations of that special Hershey magic that equals consumer smiles, and company profits. At Chocolate World, your interactive experience in the 3D Theater, factory tour ride and children’s activities are just as important to building brand loyalty as the familiar candy you’ve been eating since childhood. As the youngest corporate staff member in Chocolate World History, in 1990, I contributed to the IT Department by developing operating protocols for their computer systems, security standards and off-site data storage solutions. With my strong electronics experience, a move to R&D at the Tech Center was a natural progression. Holding 7 different Specialist positions, I have touched the development and implementation of nearly every operating arm at Hershey. Trained in electronics, I developed new technologies and industrial automation for pasta operations at the Memphis Plant. Having moved through functional divisions like confectionary & hard candy, I worked on equipment design for the new kitchens in our Reading Plant – a hard candy manufacturing facility. I developed the wireless inventory system used for R&D warehousing and managed the inventory of the R&D Warehouse. Today, I have come full circle and once again call Chocolate World home.
