Promoted to provide continuing visionary leadership to $500M entertainment boutique, including $100M branded consumer products business. Formulate and execute strategic plans to sustain high revenue and profit growth with direct accountability for P&L, new business development, global market expansion, and team building and leadership. Propel smooth daily operations, ensuring utmost efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources. Promote company through written articles as well as media and industry events/appearances.

Impact: Generated $15M+ from 300 licensees, 6 television series, live events, and a SpeedRacer.Com website.

•  Grew business 50% per year (average) and expanded into 5 countries by targeting company’s assets.

•  Created new children’s animated series, Speed Racer, The Next Generation, and became Executive Producer.

•  Licensed Speed Racer to Lionsgate who subsequently made a deal with Nickelodeon to air The Next Generation.

•  Spearheaded successful licensing programs with 15 major retailers, including Wal-Mart, Target, and K-Mart.

•  Clinched licensing deal with dozens of toy and game manufacturers, including Mattel, Jada, RC2, Playing Mantis, Round 2, Master Toy, Awesome Toys, and Duncan Yo Yo’s.

•  Launched and re-launched Speed Racer website to generate 8K unique daily users, after just 90 days.

•  Generated $100M in additional exposure for brand via sponsorship of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

•  Led all start up activities for a Speed Racer Cyber Drive International Racing League.

Executive Vice President  (1998–2003)

Retained previous role’s responsibilities while creating long-term business plans to reinvent Speed Racer franchise during period of serious competitive threat.. Continued to build up and manage development, production, and distribution of television programs and activities for network, cable, satellite, VOD, syndication, broadband, DVD/home video, and wireless. Devised and carried out a multitude of brand strategies and cross-category merchandising opportunities.

Impact: Laid groundwork to create brand opportunities that led to $100M consumer products business.

•  Established key corporate partnerships including NASCAR, ESPN, VW, Warner Bros., Disney, Lionsgate, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Westinghouse Broadcasting, Mattel, Jack In the Box, Wendy’s, and Macy’s.

•  Created extensive lines of consumer branded products including toys, apparel, room décor, automotive accessories, educational courses, books, calendars, and DVD’s.

•  Developed multi-tiered, integrated marketing packages with national advertisers, such as Jack In The Box, Wendy’s, and Macys.

VP Licensing (1991–1998)

Brought in to startup and lead Licensing  Division for major animated television property with decade-long trend of no merchandising opportunities. Held full responsibility for successful development of strategy, team, P&L, and licensing programs. In charge of multi-category and client/agency management including key functions of brand management, product development, advertising, promotions, business development, and public relations. Further refined operations, outsourcing production, restructuring all broadcast deals, and trimming budget.

Impact: Built Licensing Division into major profit-maker with little financial resources or industry presence.

•  Revived brand and drove high revenues by building stellar industry reputation and identifying opportunities.

•  Increased Licensing Division’s revenue from $0 to $2.5M+ in the first 6 months.

•  Successfully sold the Classic Speed Racer animated television series to MTV.

•  Saved company $1M per year in legal capital expenditures through effective contract negotiations.

•  Served as Associate Producer for Speed Racer, The Movie, which grossed $4.5M on art house movie circuit.
