Operations Manager

Mar 2013 - Aug 2015
Swire Pacific Offshore

Brought into the company to play a major role in developing Swire Salvage Pte Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Swire Pacific Offshore based in Singapore, I rapidly developed the company's resources in terms of specialist equipment and personnel.  This included the procurement and commissioning of an innovative remotely-operated system for the removal of pollutants from sunken vessels without the need for divers.

I project managed the implementation of an ISO 9001 Quality Assurance system in response to an identified market requirement.  This gave Swire Salvage an immediate commercial advantage over competitors who lacked this accreditation and paid dividends instantly, with Swire Salvage securing a lucrative contract with the UK Ministry of Defence ahead of larger and more established competition.

I  worked to develop key partnerships with other companies in order to increase the level and quality of service available to clients and to facilitate successful operations in challenging locations such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Madagascar and Pakistan.

On an operational level, I deployed as Salvage Master in support of projects and provided post-operation reporting to stakeholders such as vessel owners, P&I Clubs, marine consultants and underwriters giving professional input into incident investigation and lessons identified.

Salvage Engineer

Jan 2010 - Feb 2013
Titan Salvage

Part of the core team tasked with global marine emergency response from Titan's UK depot, I played a key role in a number of ambitious salvage and wreck removal projects including the VINCA GORTHON in the North Sea, UNISON VIGOR in Thailand and COSTA CONCORDIA on Giglio Island, Italy.

I was solely responsible for the design and implementation of a planned maintenance system for diving and life support systems in accordance with IMCA guidelines, and I managed a team of mechanics and technicians tasked with equipment repair, maintenance and preparedness when not deployed in support of operations.

Salvage Operator

Jun 2005 - Dec 2009
UK Ministry of Defence

A key member of a highly trained specialist team responsible for providing the UK armed forces with services ranging from marine salvage and underwater engineering to blue water towing and operational planning, I held the rank of Lieutenant in the UK Royal Navy Reserve to enable operations in time of conflict.

Responsible for overseeing the repair and maintenance of portable salvage equipment at the Southern Marine Salvage Unit, I received written commendations from the Chief of Defence Materiel for my contribution to operations on HMS ENDURANCE, HMS ROYAL OAK and HMS SUPERB as a salvage diver and engineer.
