  • I'm the Structural Lead and main point of contact to a number of mixed-used residential developments and also a hospital project for Health Infrastructure NSW.
  • Part of my role is also acting as the internal Project Manager for projects that Meinhardt-Bonacci has been engaged for both Structural and Civil Engineering Services.

Structural Lead for the Concept Design for a proposed mixed-use 70-storey tower sitting atop an existing metro rail line tunnel.

Structural Assessment of Mascot Towers, Sydney
Independent structural analysis (includes non-linear analysis) and assessment to determine the cause of the structural building cracks on a 10-storey residential tower in Mascot which gained a big media mileage in Sydney. The assessment outcome has been peer reviewed by the NSW Building Commissioner's team led by Professor Stephen Foster from UNSW.

Peer Review and Value Engineering

  • Western Sydney University Bankstown Campus

    Independent peer review of an 18-storey + 2-storey structure featuring 22-m cantilevered floors on the top 4 floors. Checks involved independent structural modelling and assessment of the building lateral performance, foundation uplift study, etc.

  • Rhodes Station Precinct - Sydney

Independent peer review of two 37-storey towers above ground. Checks involved independent structural modelling and assessment of the building lateral performance for wind, checks on potential addition of 5-10 extra floors, etc.

Principal Structural Engineer

  • Worked as a Principal Structural Engineer for the Arcadis Building Structures Team in Sydney.
  • During this time, I was the Structural Lead to a number of building developments for Sydney and Melbourne Metro. These are major government projects which involve a big team of consultants and stakeholders.
  • Apart from providing key structural inputs to the project, I managed a delivery team consisting of engineers and drafters in Sydney. I also looked after an outsourcing team based in Manila, Philippines whom we also engaged to assist in the project.

Victoria Cross Sydney Metro Over Station Development (Commercial and Retail, Mixed Usage)

Structural lead for the Overhead Station Development (OSD) Tower for Victoria Cross Station. The development consists of a 168-m tall 40+ storey commercial tower atop a station on one of the Sydney Metro Stations. 

Sydney Metro Over Station Development (Residential, Commercial and Retail, Mixed Usage)

Structural lead for the conceptual development of 3 high- rise towers (50,40 and 25 stories) atop a station on one of the Sydney Metro Stations. The towers cater to a mix residential, office and potential commercial use.

Melbourne Metro Over Station Development (Residential, Commercial and Retail, Mixed Usage) 

Design of a 50-story tower on top of a station on one of the Melbourne Metro Stations for 50% Design Development Stage. The tower caters to a mix residential, office and potential commercial use.

Tender for Sydney Metro Station Over Station Development (Residential, Commercial and Retail, Mixed Usage)

Structural lead for the Tender Design (working with a local contractor) for Sydney Metro OSD and Station Development. This tender consisted of two sites with each station having an OSD high-rise Tower (35-40 stories high).

Worked as a Principal Structural Engineer for the AECOM Building Structures Team in Sydney. Key responsibilities include design and independent reviews of high-rise commercial and residential buildings.

Independent peer review on the overall structural stability mainly focusing on building performance against wind. A sequential or staged construction analysis was also undertaken to assess the building movement incorporating potential ground differential settlement.

The project involves the following elements:

  • Construction of a new 2 level basement across the entire site.
  • Construction of new 41-storey office tower (South Tower). 

     A key feature of this structure is a 12-m cantilever structure over the existing structure(s) on the Collins Street frontage.

  • Construction of new 27 story hotel (Hotel Tower).

Independent peer review on the overall structural stability of this proposed development consisting of a 38 level office building, with three basements and podium car parking. 

1 Denison Street, Sydney, Australia

Independent review, and value engineering exercise for a tender design for a local contractor of a proposed 45-storey (incl. podium and basement levels).

One Circular Quay, Sydney, Australia 

Peer review on a proposed development consisting of two towers,  a 61-storey residential tower and a 28-storey hotel tower. Both  buildings share a six story basement below ground. Independent analysis models were created to assess the building performance against wind and whether or not a tuned-mass damper is required.

Structural Lead for the Concept and Schematic Design of a proposed 168-m high twin towers sharing a common podium and connected by a link bridge at the upper five floors. The development includes the following:

Immo Prestige Residential Tower, Dubai, UAE

Design of a 300-m+ tall high end residential tower in Dubai Marina. It is a very slender tower with a ratio close to 13:1

Harbour Views Towers, Dubai Creek Harbour Island Development

The project consists of the following:

  • Two 200-m tall residential towers with each comprising 47 residential floors and 2 service area floors on top of a 4-level podium.
  • 2-level basement for parking and MEP services.

Confidential Project - Structural Performance Assessment of an existing 5-star, 63-storey, 242-m high hotel, Dubai, UAE

Independent structural performance assessment of an existing 63-storey, 242-m high hotel in Dubai. It is elliptical in building shape and has slender core walls. The assessment involved complex non-­linear analysis.

Confidential Project - Mall Expansion, Dubai, UAE

Structural Lead for the Concept Design of the planned expansion of an existing mall in Dubai to circa 120,000 sq.m GLA. The project components include the following:

  • Expansion of the existing mall to include an additional level of Retail Space and 2 additional levels for carpark.
  • Strengthening of the existing structure to accommodate the additional 2 levels of carpark.

Independent internal review of the structural design of the terminal building of the 250-m diameter observation wheel.

Detailed Design - Bvlgari Hotel Resort and Marina Village, Dubai

Lead structural engineer for the detailed design of a cluster of six seven-storey luxury residential buildings. I was in charge of managing the design deliverables and coordination with the other engineering disciplines. The project also involved construction of Hotel Buildings, Yacht Club, Mansions and Villas.

Design of a 22-storey Residential Tower, Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai

Lead structural engineer for the schematic structural design of the proposed 22-storey Residential Tower located at Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai. The project consists of 16-level residential tower and 6-level podium + Ground + Basement.

The Dubai Mall Expansion Project

The project involves a planned expansion of the world's largest mall called the Boulevard Expansion Project. I was involved in assessing the structural capacity of the existing building and validating the structural concept.

Concept Design of 3 35-storey Residential Towers, Jakarta, Indonesia

  • High level review of the structural analysis models created for the concept design of a $200 Million, residential complex in Pondok Indah, South jakarta. It has a 2Ha common basement over 3 levels, 2x32 storey towers, with one 25 story tower and 3 storey Food and beverage podium structure at ground level.

Detailed Design Review of St. Regis 50-storey Office and 25-storey Tower, Jakarta, Indonesia

The project involves detailed design review of a new 46-storey and 25-storey structures in Jakarta, Indonesia. Responsibilities include checking of the structural model created in ETABS for detailed design and independent design calculations to review the key structural elements.

Design of a 40-storey Commercial and 50-storey Residential Towers, Singapore

  • Structural analyst for the detailed design of two new 40-storey Commercial Buildings and a 50-storey, 200m tall Residential Tower located in Singapore. The work includes the following:
    • Stage construction analysis including creep and shrinkage effects to the structure.
    • Checks to key structural elements of the building.

2 Gilmer Terrace 10-storey Car Park Building Concept and Detailed Design for Seismic Strengthening, Wellington, New Zealand

  • Job manager for Concept and Developed Detailed Strengthening Design for a 12-storey Car Park Building located at 2 Gilmer Terrace, Wellington. Responsibilities include the following:
    • Managing a small team of engineers and draftsman remotely resourced in Sydney, Australia.
    • Working with cost engineers for estimating the overall project costs. 

2 Gilmer Terrace 20-storey Hotel Tower Structural Seismic Assessment, Wellington, New Zealand

  • Job manager  role for the Non-linear Time History Analysis of a 20-storey Hotel Tower at 2 Gilmer Terrace, Wellington. The analysis involved checks on the soil-structure interaction and the ability of the building to rock from it foundation.

Investigation on the collapse of the Pyne Gould Corporation Building during the February 2011 Christchurch Earthquake, New Zealand

Computer structural modelling and non-linear time history analysis using PERFORM 3D software for the Pyne Gould Corporation Building to investigate its collapse during the February 2011Chrischurch Earthquake. The project went through a peer review process by an appointed panel of structural engineering experts to establish the causes of the building collapse.

The Majestic Centre Structural Seismic Assessment, Wellington, New Zealand

Structural seismic assessment of the Majestic Centre, a 32-storey reinforced concrete structure and is dubbed as the tallest building in Wellington, New Zealand. Key responsibilities include structural modelling in SAP2000 and PERFORM 3D and running a non-linear time history analysis to identify the structural deficiencies of the structure.

Reserve Bank of Wellington, New Zealand

Led the structural analysis to determine the seismic performance assessment of the existing Reserve Bank of Wellington to the current building code and standards using non-linear time history analysis and proposal of retrofit options to the existing building. The Reserve Bank of New Zealand Wellington building is a mixed-use 15 storey structure.

2 Gilmer Terrace Structural Seismic Assessment, Wellington, New Zealand

Structural seismic assessment using non-linear time history analysis to simulate the effects of real time earthquake records to the existing 32-storey commercial reinforced concrete building located at 2 Gilmer Terrace, Wellington. Responsibilities also include modelling the soil-structure interaction to check the feasibility of rocking in reducing the seismic demands on the structure.

HVDC Pole 3 - Seismic Assessment and Strengthening of Condenser Transformer Building, New Zealand

Structural assessment of the existing Condenser Transformer Building to 1/2500 year return- period earthquake magnitude. It also includes proposal of strengthening options for the existing building structure. Responsibilities also include construction monitoring of the strengthening scheme proposed for the Condenser Transformer Building.

St. Regis 50-storey Office and 25-storey Tower, Jakarta, Indonesia

The project involves design of a new 46-storey and 25-storey structures in Jakarta, Indonesia. Responsibilities include checking of the structural model review created in ETABS.

The project involved structural seismic assessment of the existing Westfield Queensgate Mall and an existing 8-storey reinforced concrete building located at Lower Hutt, Wellington. The work includes checking the seismic performance level of the structures using modal response spectrum and non-linear pushover analysis in SAP2000 and ETABS.

William Clayton Building Seismic Assessment, Wellington, New Zealand

Responsible for the structural dynamic analysis of the existing 4-storey reinforced concrete William Clayton Building, regarded as the first base isolated building in the world, located in Molesworth Street, Wellington to determine the seismic performance level of the existing structure including the base isolation system to current design standards using modal response spectrum analysis in SAP2000.

Structural seismic assessment of the existing 3 12-storey reinforced concrete building structures and conceptual design for base-isolation as a strengthening option for improving its seismic resilience. 

Kinleith Boiler Structure, Tauranga Region, New Zealand

Structural modelling and analysis of the 700-Ton boiler structure in Tauranga using SAP 2000 for base isolation design.

Industrial Building Projects

Methanex Structural Frame Assessment, New Plymouth, New Zealand

Led the structural dynamic analysis of an existing 3-storey steel support frame for the installation of a new deaerator vessel and also aimed at obtaining the seismic accelerations at the different levels of the structure. SAP2000 was used to run a modal response spectrum analysis of the structure.

Probabilistic seismic hazard analyses for different locations across New Zealand which include Ahuroa Gas Storage Project, Whakamaru sub-station, Mckays-to-Peka-Peka project and Kawerau Boiler project. The main project outcome of such project is derivation of an earthquake spectrum specific for the site.

Project of the Wellington City Council aimed at assessing over 1300+ existing commercial and residential building structures. It includes assessment of building structural irregularities and building age and design code used and scaling to the existing New Zealand Code and Standards (NZS 1170).
