Independent Beauty Consultant

Mary Kay

As an Independent Mary Kay consultant, I had many responsibilities including financial bookkeeping, contacting customers through phone and mail, keeping product inventory, and holding group product presentations. Running my own business allowed me to develop fabulous multitasking skills and become comfortable interacting with a diverse group of clients.

Oct 2007 - Dec 2007

Photographer and Sales Associate

Portrait Innovations

Seasonal work. I photographed individuals, families, groups, and children in a studio setting. I also worked with the company's own editing software and Adobe Photoshop. I also gained sales experience in this job by selling photo packages to my clients and learned to use photo lab technology to print the final product. During this job, I was also responsible for setting appointments in our computer system and answering phone calls.

May 2007 - Jul 2007

Hostess

Radisson Hotel

Summer job. I worked as a hostess in the Friday's restaurant within the hotel. I was responsible for greeting guests as they entered the restaurant and making them feel welcome in Austin. I learned to maintain a calm and positive attitude during busy times and work as a team. It was my responsibility to manage the work load of the servers and occasionally do tasks beyond my position to ensure the restaurant ran smoothly.

May 2007 - Jul 2007

Sales Associate

Linens'n'Things

Summer job. I worked in the bedding department, at the cash register, and in the stockroom. I enjoyed the variety of my work and the ability to work as a team. While in the bedding department, I was responsible for setting up displays, keeping the area clean, and helping customers find what they needed. I usually worked on the closing shift, so it was my responsibility to organize and clean the bedding department in detail to be ready for opening the next morning. In the stockroom I worked with others to unload trucks and move products to the floor as quickly and efficiently as possible.
