I am most interested in Open Source software solutions and have become an expert in Joomla!! content management system because it offers the users and not just the "techies" access to the web. I have managed large content management projects often serving as the liasion between the content providers, artists, and the IT department. I feel most comfortable in small companies or non-profits where my proactive approach is most accepted.
Aug 1990 - Present
Web design of brochure-, portal-, and blog-type web sites for a wide range of clients, including small businesses, creative individuals, and non-profits for many purposes, including brochure, portal, video streaming, photo-gallery, and blog sites. The work entails everything from setting up domains with registrars, hosting services, installing and customizing templates and extensions, database maintenance, backups and restore management, creating interactive graphics including banner ads, and ensuring that the site is Search Engine Optimized. In addition, all available content is compared to required content needs of the new site, and a strategy is developed for providing new or updated materials for the site which I might write, edit, or coordinate. Content can include text, images, video, or Flash movies. In addition to content strategizing and management, I have set up and customized “web 2.0” social communities with forums, chat rooms, and commenting capabilities as well as personalized profiles with hand-made avatars. In support of this site development, I’ve created icons and other graphic elements from photographs and objects as well as illustrations.
Most of my current work entails developing, installing, and managing websites based on the Joomla! Open Source CMS platform.I also offer full turnkey services from domain registration, web hosting; the designing, wireframing, installing, editing, and creating of "classic" websites and their supporting multimedia products using Adobe Dreamweaver and Fireworks along with Adobe Photoshop. Every site entailed hand-coding HTML and CSS to enhance the efficiency of the site and its compliance with HTML and XHTML standards.
