Cyta Hellas is a subsidiary of the incumbent telecommunications provider of Cyprus and provides fixed broadband services in Greece.

As an access network engineer, I am responsible for:

• Proposing strategies for performance evaluation and optimization of xDSL lines in the physical layer.
• Organizing internal training activities regarding the physical layer of several broadband technologies.
• Participating in the industry-based taskforce for preparing the Greek Access Network Frequency Plan.

Served the compulsory military service at the 31st Mechanized Brigade (Feres, Evros, Greece) and the Centre for the Information Systems Support of the Hellenic Army (Athens, Greece) as an assistant network administrator. I was responsible for:

• LAN administration, maintenance and upgrade, as well as managing Active Directory.
• Ensuring that data systems and networks were up 24/7.
• Maintaining and enforcing security and computer use policies.
• Providing helpdesk support to LAN users.
• Implementing and maintaining military personnel databases.

I worked in a project that involved radio planning and optimisation of WiMax networks in several cities in Greece and Eastern Europe. In particular, I participated in the following activities:

• The design and development of a tool that roughly estimates the number of necessary base stations based on equipment specifications and demanded throughput.
• The radio network planning, using WinProp (by AWE Communications) as planning tool

I worked in the "Antenna Centre of Excellence (ACE)" research project, which is a network of excellence funded by the European Union that deals with the antenna function of radio systems. I was involved in the smart antenna systems activity, which coordinated the research on smart antenna and MIMO systems. In particular:

• Participated in the following research activities:
  • Performance evaluation of MIMO algorithms, especially for reducing the hardware complexity.
  • Application of MIMO techniques to Wireless Sensor Networks
• Participated in the project meetings
• Co-authored the project deliverables
• Assisted in the management of the project that had been assigned to the University of Piraeus

During the training internship, I was involved in the development of a CRM application for hospitals. My responsibilities included:

• The design and implementation of the application database in Oracle.
• The design and development of the application in Java.
