Agilent Technologies
  • Successfully developed strategic marketing plan and quarterly targets to drive profitable growth of Agilent's Chemical Analysis Group products and software and support services. By focusing on specific markets within South Asia Pacific and Korea (SAPK) achieved double digit growth across all products in my portfolio in 2009
  • Owned and delivered execution of the tactical elements of the plan and responsible for all quarterly campaign measurement targets (ROMI, lead generation and order dollars), ensuring they were communicated clearly to stakeholders in Europe, US and within the region
  • Tracked order revenue across products in my portfolio; generating regular reports and corrective actions when quarter targets were not being met
  • Was an integral member of the marcom group on outbound marketing (including the organization of trade shows in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam), print and "e-based" direct mail pieces and web content
  • Was the Asia Pacific representative in Field Advisory Teams making inputs and recommendations on new product/solutions; ensuring that local needs were taken into consideration
  • Co-ordinated product launches for three new products (GC, GC/MSMS and ICP-MS) across Asia Pacific working closely with country teams in Greater China, Japan, South East Asia and Korea in 2009
  • Owned skill development for field sales and was the AP representative on the global council

Agilent Life Science & Chemical Analysis
  • Created, owned and executed business plan for the ICP-MS product range across A/P. Championed ICP-MS throughout A/P countries and responsible for exceeding aggressive growth targets for the products in the Region (21% CAGR over 10 years)
  • Built and managed a Product Specialist team (2004-2008) which ultimately had seven direct and 1 indirect members (4 in China, I in Australia, 1 in Singapore, 1 in India and 1 in Korea)
  • Managed third party ICP-MS sales channels in China, Korea and SEA countries
  • Travelled extensively throughout the Region (65%-80% of time) supporting sales, delivering sales training and meeting customers; maintained close and regular one:one contact with strategic customers across A/P
  • Closely monitored and analysed competitor moves; communicated plans to the factory in Japan as well as stakeholders in the field; developed proposals to address new and ongoing threats
  • Was a key member of the global team supporting ICP-MS product development working closely with the Japanese manufacturing division on specifications, product quality of installed systems, sales literature/training etc., co-ordinating launch plans and their execution
  • Helped resolve longstanding export license issues in China by working closely with Global Infrastructure Organisation, Japan METI and US import control that resulted in a vast improvement of cash flow
  • Mentored junior members of the marketing team and new managers including Agilent TORCH process for rapid development of new staff in China and India
  • Active member of global team and A/P representative on an expansion of the market sensing function within the organization (part of the Marketing Renaissance initiative)
  • Led global team on development of a new GoTo Market/commercialization process (Solutions Commercialisation Excellence initiative)
  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to assume new challenges by covering Sales Development Manager roles in Pharmaceutical (6 months in 2004/5), Chemical Analysis (6 months in 2005) and Consumables (7 months in 2006/7) when the incumbents moved on
  • Winner of the prestigious Agilent High Achievers Award (2002 and 2007)

In a rich and varied career spanning 24 years, Christopher has been involved with R&D, manufacturing, sales and marketing. Focused on the scientific instrument industry, he has an in-depth knowledge of a variety of markets including, environmental, food safety, clinical, semiconductor, earth sciences, petrochemical and, latterly, life sciences. Exposure to such a diverse range of markets provides Christopher with an unmatched understanding of any of the key issues affecting businesses. He has been based in Singapore since 1997 and responsible for business development and marketing across the whole of Asia Pacific. As the lead in business and marketing planning Christopher successfully developed and executed strategies while ensuring that all relevant measurements were in place and hard fought for marketing budgets were spent wisely. He has travelled extensively within Asia Pacific working closely with customers and colleagues in China, Japan, South East Asia, Australia, Korea and India The outstanding results and exceptional growth of the business he puts down to the “The E’s”, Experience, Energy and Enthusiasm. Christopher is seeking a senior position in marketing or business development that will offer excellent career development opportunities with the ultimate goal of becoming General Manager.
