Summary

FRANCES L. GONZALEZ-GARCIA, Ph.D., has been in the education sector for over a decade with experience including that of a classroom teacher (K-5), Master Reading Teacher, District Job Embedded Trainer (Literacy, Math and Science), Adjunct instructor and Reading Clinic Assistant.

She is currently an Elementary Reading Specialist (K-5) for Northside Independent School District providing interventions for struggling readers, developing and providing ongoing professional staff development in the areas of literacy while overseeing the literacy curriculum at her campus.  In addition, she is a member of the district Elementary Reading Cadre for Staff Development in which she provides professional staff development to teachers across the district.

She is an active presenter for local, state, national and international conferences.

She is also the 2012 state recipient of the H.E.B. Excellence in Education Award in the Elementary Leadership Category.

Her professional interests include reading comprehension and strategies, multiple metacognitive approaches, new literacies, Response to Intervention (RTI), reading motivation and teacher education.
