Instituteof World Politics
- Washington, DC US
Conceived and founded in 1990 to fill a national need for educating Americans in such areas as statecraft and national security, The Institute of World Politics (IWP) serves as an academic center of higher learning in these critical areas. In addition to a curriculum that focuses on instruments of power, The Institute of World Politics established an outreach initiative known as the Student Ambassador Program. The IWP Student Ambassador Program started in 2010 with representatives selected by the president’s office. Formalized by its constitution in May 2014, the program appoints student ambassadors who represent the school, the community, and themselves. Since its inception, the Student Ambassador Program has experienced significant growth. Elements of the program’s transformation in less than four years include the creation of rules of conduct, laws, and the first phone-a-thon. Recently, student ambassadors met with prospective students and described the ambassadors’ positive experiences during their studies at IWP. Ambassadors also volunteer to assist at special events, like the annual Chancellor’s Dinner.
