  • Program Quality & Effectiveness

    • Adapted a New York-based non-profit program for the Los Angeles market, scaling it (in first four months with the organization) from serving one school and 600 families per year to 35 schools and 7000 families per year. Screened, hired, onboarded, trained, and placed all regional employees, in addition to designing a team identity and culture.
    • Managed the opening of nine new after-school tutoring centers, each which exceeded company expectations for growth.
    • Consistently ran for-profit retail educational centers that exceeded company average membership by 90-100%.

     

    Strategy & Vision

    • Spearheaded national conversation around staffing and structure; created new regional structure for Los Angeles team; completed extensive legal documentation to vet and test restructure decisions; mapped and implemented restructure communication plan, resetting expectations with every employee; solidified all staff within new structure in 7 days.
    • Managed the opening of nine new after-school tutoring centers, each which exceeded company expectations for growth.
    • Built company’s only large-scale multi-component school-based product in collaboration with Los Angeles Unified School District. This relationship would later be duplicated in other school districts in California, Illinois and New Jersey.

CFY is a national organization that helps students, teachers, and parents use digital learning to improve educational outcomes. Since 1999, CFY has leveraged technology to enable students to take charge of their learning; teachers to make learning more engaging within the classroom and beyond the classroom into the home; and parents to become more powerful learning partners with their children. Formerly known as Computers for Youth, and now known as Power My Learning.

  • Provided overall organizational leadership, leading Los Angeles program operations and implementation, including talent acquisition, professional development, and budget management.
  • Developed, motivated, and inspired a strong internal team, including 15 full-time staff and 50 part-time staff, encouraging teamwork, collaboration, and respect for CFY's mission and constituents.
  • Integrated new program components into current model, including managing the hiring and restructure of region staff in order to deepen impact in schools. New components include Blended Learning Consulting and Enhanced Family Engagement Services.

    • Scaled operations of  program model from serving 300 families to 700 families annually, which included expansion of school and partner relations, operations and logistics, curriculum and training, volunteer management as well as program evaluation and improvement.

    Established in 2001, Eli Broad's non-profit education reform organization's mission has been to raise student achievement by recruiting, training and supporting executive leadership talent from across America to become the next generation of urban school district leaders. The Broad Superintendents Academy is the only executive management program in the country that recruits, trains and places non-traditional superintendent candidates as well as standout career educators.

    • Planned and executed Academy professional development sessions: overseeing operations and planning of session logistics, and managing faculty and guest presenters. Created two-year project plan, designed to streamline Academy operations, which has resulted in approximately $100K in annual payroll savings. Designed and wrote official program operations manual, intended to increase operational efficiencies.
    • Managed fellow leadership development, differentiated learning, and study district opportunities; coordinated with fellow coaches and faculty advisors to maximize fellow skill development during the Academy. 
    • Developed and analyzed program budget. Reduced program cost in 2009 by 20%, without decreasing instruction hours.
    • Created and managed program evaluation process and made recommendations for program improvements.
